Hiya

im gonna use 6,5 L pots for my coco grow. Im going to have 1 mother from where i take clones. im gonna put the clones into RW and once the roots come out of it place them into these 6.5 L pots with only coco (i use coco bricks) and under 12/12 lights.

Now i was wondering about them roots. Once they hit the bottom of my 6.5 L pots how much should i be expectin o them to come out from the drainage holes at the bottom, and what should i do to them? Just cut the roots that come out of the pots, or do they even come out?

First off welcome to coco, you're gonna love it.

The roots will stop short of the drainage holes, so you won't have to worry about them. The important thing to ensure is to not let the coco dry out. It is not soil and shouldn't be treated that way. Also because of this you should feed with nutes every watering.

I used to grow 2007-2008 in soil and now back with coco in mind . What do you think about going 12/12 with no veg after clones are rooted. Im growing 88% sativa, 12% indica hybrid. You think 6.5 L is enough?

You can do it in a 6.5 L no problem. You can get away with smaller containers with coco.
I always veg my plants for a while before flipping, but thats because of my perpetual setup and I like bushesbut I know guys here that flip with no veg and have decent results.

Subculture B+M at transplant sites. (if in soil/coco) H&G roots exc+Orca in your daily feeding schedule. Stop roots Exc in 2nd week of flower, and stop orca week 6..

First time growing in coco and things are looking pretty nice!
I have couple test plants.... wanted to see how plants grow in small pots, so i put two autoflowering strains in 8dl (0.8L) coco..

I have never grown autoflowers before, but damn they grow nice in small 0.8l pots small buds, but thats because i fed them with low ec.
The main plants (sour lemon og, sweet tai, sour blueberry) are in 10l coco and they are @ week 3 flowering.

Coco is soo easy!

get a big garbage can, once the plants get a certain size they can easy take 1/2 gallon per watering. like you said mixing nutes every day is bull shit.

I have to leave town for 4 days and have seedlings about a week old. I have someone to water plants that has no knowledge of gardening. Can I mix 4 days worth of nute solution and just have him water with it twice a day? Will the nutes keep? Will PH change in stored nute solution? I am using advanced Nutes connoisier A&B with additives.

If he uses it up within a week, he'll be fine. Just make sure he shakes it up well before each feeding to mix it well and aerate it. Your ph level should stay pretty stable. The coco should buffer any slight variances.

Greetings coco handwater family. Fascinating thread with a wealth of information! I am embarking on my first coco grow after doing soil in the 80's. Will be growing autos (critical rapido and biodiesel mass) under 400 wt HPS with Advanced Nutrients Conossieur line. My main concern is with feeding seedlings. I will be planting germed seeds directly in to 3 gal. airpots. How much connossieur should I use per gallon of tap water for newborns? Is cal-mag necessary with the first few feeds? Can someone please suggest a feeding schedule for the first two weeks including "charging" the coco before planting. Love this thread! Thanks in advance for your help. peace...bongwater

I'm not familiar with Advanced nutrient line, but if they're like most nutrient vendor/manufactures, their website should have some sort of feeding chart or schedule. Might wanna give that a look.

I am of the understanding that with autos one should start with 1/4 to 1/2 strength of what the vendor recommends. I am using advanced nutes (PH perfect formula) for the first time and am a little paranoid about burning newborns. Does anyone have experience with these expensive but supposedly superior nutes? peace...bongwater

They look fine to me.. be very careful jamming nutrients into plants that small.. very low doses at this stage.. I'm not sure what ppm or ec level you're at with these, but they shouldn't be getting much more than 400 to 500 ppm.. let them grow.. then jam the nutes to em..

I think reusing the coco with all the root material left in place is asking for disaster.. I don't believe the mycorrizal will be able to break down that old root material.. You might want to try some sort of enzyme based supplement.

U got that right. I water tea made of mycro grow,molass, and anceint forest every watering in my beds and I can leave sticks in my beds and they are gone in a couple weeks. My beds break down like nobodys biz.

Thank you for creating this, here's my piece.

Been using botanicare's coco coir, feeding six days flush the seventh, with the following nuts:
Heavy 16 A+B (veg and bloom)
Cal-Mag (sparingly, 5ml twice a week during veg)
Liquid Karma (veg)
Silica Blast (4ml throughout grow)
Sweet Raw (as directed)
Nirvana (flower)
Big Bug (wk 3-4)
Overdrive (wk 5-6)

Next shopping trip I plan on switching to CNS17 Coco&Soil, should I flush them real well before changing their base (only the veg plants, my flowers are finishing out)? Do Coco specific bases make a lot of difference?
We add advanced nutrients during flower because the results are undeniable, at least for us. I'm sure botanicare has equivalents but wanted to hear if anyone had experience with them.
Coco has been surprisingly forgiving, and even with all the blunders our plants are beautiful and healthy (pics in my album). When it comes to trimming, I feel you can get away with a lot more. Just so I could see for myself, I had groups of plants, some heavily trimmed (most of the leaves completely removed), some moderate (half-leaf trim, leaving largest sun leaves intact), and left some untrimmed. Although all looked gorgeous and no hermaphrodites, I feel the half trim is the best method. The heavy trims were fatter, but I didn't like how strained the plants looked. We kept the temp 74 degrees and dropped humidity to around %30
and by the next day they were noticeably thicker and much more frosty.

Just wanted to chime in, any advice is welcome And like I said, there are photos (mostly of bloom) please give your feedback.

Three critical auto babies born this morning! One was born with her "helmet" still attached. I tried gently nudging it hoping it would fall off but it seems to be clinging to something. Any advise on a safe way to help this poor baby girl shed her headgear? Thanks in advance for the help. peace...bongwater

inside that seed shell is somewhat of a "film" that encases the first 2 cotyledons (im positive I spelled that wrong lol)

that's what the seed shell is "clinging" to

I suggest not messing w/ it as to not cause any damage

I know when I pop em off (rarely), my hands get shaky as shit

its like a game of operation hahaha
