congrats on your harvest! now, hit us with the smoke reports! :joint:

I must take some pictures of the dried buds to post them among the smoke report, after a few days of curing on the jars (for a more 'compact' look). But seriously, I think I will have serious trouble trying to make a smoke report for AK47. Two or three hits could be more than enough for this purpose, as a 0.5g joint will totally blow up my mind.

I can't describe the taste of the AK47 - the first hit is something chemical, sometimes it remembers me of the taste of perfume or cologne - partially bitter, but very intense. The second hit make my lungs explode and the third one usually send me in another dimension where real world has no sense  :joint:

Anyway, the AK47 buds looks amazing : the buds have shrunk after drying, and they are almost white in color. I must remember to take some macro shots. If the strong odor of this strain would not be a such major problem, I would grow this strain again indoor, but it was a PITA to cover/control the stink . What does really surprise me is the fact the dried buds do not smell so strong.

that's the AK-47 a buddy of mine grew back in '02 or '03. 3 hits completely hammers you !!! :D

i will wait until i own a home (which some ground breaking should occur fall or winter of this year). since i am doing a lot of the work, i get to build in a small flowering room and a small veg/breeding room. both hidden within the walls of the house. i have put much thought into odor control there. i can design that also to insure i can grow AK-47 when i want too !!! :dance013:

congrats again, look forward to the pics :tiphat:

Congrats for your excellent work! I am interested in building a silenced fan box like yours and was wondering where do you buy those 12v high CFM fans in .ro?

I really don't know where or if you can buy such fans in .ro. I got severals of them on a cleareance of a depot where an old IT had stock some old hardware, including those and many others.

Yea, keep this thread going! :D Great work!

A few pages back people were mentioning IR in the panels, I have 730nm in my panel and I am noticing earlier ripening. I am not doing a side by side, but I am well aquainted with this cut.

How is the Cree project coming?

I had to postpone the CREE project because I have three lanky sativa plants on my flower room who refuse to ripe but I think they will come down on Saturday evening

Tomorrow evening I will put a feminized Bubblegum seed between wet paper towels to germinate and hopefully Saturday or Monday it will be transplanted on a small pot where she will vegetate for 30 days. As training technique I intend to use only topping (several times) and selective defoliation if necessary.

yea, my bad, you are correct.

with that said, there is no reason why you can't grow with just white leds... all the necessary spectrums are available with the different temp bulbs.

Hey guys. I complemented on the mother plant only because the seeds were from a new breeder, and I felt it important to put my best foot forward to max its' potential.

I now have 2 of her clones under NW + WW and plan to do entire grow this way- no supplements

These 2 clones got a slow start due to small clone tote where 2 clones (in my HOT5 tent) grew so fast that they blocked the light to these. Also I transfered them to a 6" net pot and it took awhile for the roots to break through. Also, I replaced 2 CREE @ 9w 3000K WW with 2 Utilitech @ 7.5w NWs as the clones needed more blue at this stage.

I have a second 3 socket vanity at the ready so I can double the watts when needed. Glad I only bought 2 CREEs as the diodes are at mid point inside the globe. Good for side light but not down light

Pic was taken on 5/24. One is now much taller + side branches > 5" def making up for lost time. The other is more cola like

hello hempfield in post # 255 of Building a home made led, you said mounting your panel. I'm putting one in the same way. 3w leds are, and have a source 24V 15A, I will use the current limiter as you showed. In his panel were 11 strings of leds. 11 current limiters were used? Connection of switches on / off was taken if you can explain? Sorry if the question seems silly but that part is not quite understood. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience, peace! I did this same question in thread building a home made led.

I thank you already!

@hempfield I'm loving this setup - the simplicity and perfectionism, it's just beautiful and inspiring! I've already learned so much, I wish I would have done my set-up with auto-flowers and LED's - good luck, hemp - seems like you know what you're doing xD

@PetFlora Have you considered mixing white and blue LED's, or would that not make an impact?

For the beginning I will go with a less effective current limiter circuit, which use a MOSFET transistor as variable resistor, controlled by a feedback loop composed from a load resistor and a NPN transistor. There will be two strings of 3 LEDs, powered by a 12V power source. The circuit will be built right on the base of the heatsink, without any PCB, for simplicity.

This will be the 'poor man' version.

If the results of the grow will reach the expectations , I will change the current limiter with a switching driver, based on a LM257 (http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm2576.pdf) and I will try to build it with PWM support, for dimming (I personally don't think this is necessary for a grow light, but my intention is to create a circuit that simulates sunrise and sunset).

My final goal is to create a simple and cheap light source, compact and modular (this light is intended to cover a 1sqf area -for best results and up to 2.25sft ), easy to build and operate, especially in the case of small scale grows. If the plants will require this, a 10W multichip RED LED will be added (http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Power-10W-Red-Led-400LM-620-640nm-Energy-Light-Lamp-/260965696179).

Why not to choose lm2596 , it's cheaper and has higher switching frequency that means smaller passive components.
Also on aliexpress you can find supercheaps lm2596 chips.
