Daylight and Fluoros

Hey I see you learnt how to crop an image, well done old chap.

Yup, just for you and your low bandwith connection. :tiphat: hehe.

I kid, it was something I really should have been doing. You're an incredibly smart guy. I don't know what you did in your previous life, but I bet you were incredible at it!

Funny, I resize/crop pics all the time (over 10,000 a year), but hadn't thought about doing that on IC. The pics look normal-sized on my screen and pop right up!

I appreciate that, thank you. It's not only the size, but about removing imagery that's not important, always watch the signal:noise ratio.

Anyway, the new pic is really clear and pleasant to look at, before it was too busy and looked liked a space port.

True, and from a security point of view, the less noise the better. I'm always careful not to photograph anything that can identify me or my location, but I could always slip up.

Humidity is going to be an issue. Looks like I need a dehumidifier; I found mold growing on the wall today.

The Ice Cream is already putting out a taproot! I have high hopes for this baby. I better take good care of it. Everything else is doing its thing. The 'stem' still has very strange looking leaves. It might be a stealthy trait with strange-shaped leaves; if so, it's well worth breeding with. Let's see if it straightens out.

Just picked up most of my old beans! I have...

In the fridge:
Flash Seeds Jet-47 x 3
Homegrown Fantaseeds Afghani x Sensi Jamaican Pearl x 2
Mandala Safari Mix x 20
Nirvana New York Power Diesel x 10
Nirvana Raspberry Cough x 10
Paradise Ice Cream x 2
Reservoir Sour Mist x 7
Sagarmatha Gardener's Choice x 5
Sensi Jamaican Pearl x 2
White Label Bubblegum x 10

Going in the fridge:
Andhra Pradesh Pure Sativa x ~20
Bohol (Philippines) Pure Sativa x 15
Celestial Temple Sativa x 8
Excellent indoor bagseed x 8
Federation Hawaiian Sativa x 8
Hawaiian Skunk x 8
Jamaican Sativa x 10 (possibly lambsbread given the source)!
Mexican Sativa x 10 (Gypsy Nirvana)
NYC Haze x 1
Oaxacan Sativa x 10 (Gypsy Nirvana)
Paradise Durga Mata x 2
Seedsman Haze x 8

Not in the fridge yet:
Cambodian Sativa
Lao or Thai 'Tiger' Sativa
Yunnan Sativa (old and may not germ)

I acquired and bred most of the above with the intention of growing them in the jungle--a grow tent was never something I expected to have set up! lol

Thanks, but some are eight years old and didn't germ for me when I tried. I'll put them on cotton wool with water with H2O2 to keep the bacteria/fungi/mold count down and change the cotton wool up regularly. I've had seeds take three weeks in the past, and a month or more isn't unheard of, but if the cooties get to them, it's all over.

I'm down to about half a gram of my Indian sativa. Once I run out, I'm going to wait for harvest time. For the price of a quarter of indoor here, I could buy a 1000W light with eletronic ballast, air cooled hood and 6" fan.

It's getting to where I need to keep the tent mostly zipped up. I had the tent open with two 12" fans blowing into it today and the funk hit me as soon as I walked in!

The male dropped more pollen in the bag and I rubbed some into the floral clusters. I should get at least as many seeds as I planted for this grow. :)

I bought a 250W Osram metal halide bulb today. The 400W HPS is fine in the tent, BUT the HPS shining down heats up the CFLs until they're too hot to touch if I zip the tent up. I wanted to switch to halide anyway, and after looking at the spectrum, there doesn't appear to be much need for CFLs and LEDs, although 250W + the CFLs and LEDs should keep the overall heat down significantly over a 400W. That, and during veg, I won't need the HID on, which saves power and lowers my carbon footprint. I may still pick up a 400W MH bulb at some point.

What colour temperature you got for the Metal Halide? Andyo recommended 4k to me for veg and flower. I'll head off to BKK soon and try pick up what I can

I'm not sure, I bought it from a wholesaler and that info wasn't provided. I'll find out soon enough. :D

I figured temp was less important with MH since they hit right across the spectral range. As long as it's not 7000k or up, I should be good for flowering, and the LEDs and CFLs will supplement well.

Looks to be 4600-5200K....all Osram bulbs in 250W in the series are around that level.

EDIT: 4200K. Osram manufacture bulbs in 18 countries, so there is some variation in spectrum in different markets. 4200 sounds good to me!

My Ice Cream seed hadn't raised its head today, so I dug around for it and it is putting out a weak-looking taproot. I transferred it out of the heavy medium and into the better seed starting mix I picked up last week. Hopefully this one doesn't die on me as I'd like to grow out all three Ice Creams. There are a few phenotypes and I'd like to pick at least one as a mom, but I'd like to sample all three plants to decide.

The Jet female looks like she's going to be bud from cotyledons to top. Lots of bud sites forming, it's widening and stretching, and there's even some sparkle on the smaller leaves. The pot is drying out much faster too. This baby is kicking into high gear. :)

D

Yes sir, can't wait to see how she looks when she's done! She's very green, so I think she has enough nitrogen to get her through flowering. Just guano, kelp and ash with BTI until she's done.

Exactly what I was thinking re: bud ball! Perhaps not the best kind of plant in high humidity, but I'll keep her as dry as possible. ;)
