I usually use a 30 minute wash for bragging rights, followed by a 1 hour 30 minute wash to glean the rest of the oil.

So does this mean that you Soak the material in the thermos for 30 minutes.

then strain it into a collection dish which is sitting in a warm bath so that it can purge for an hour and a half before adding ethanol?

sorry bro i got lost there....

am still wanting to try this method really badly only i'm just not getting it exactly and I dont want to risk fucking anything up including myself.

TIA

It means that I soak the material in the thermos for 30 minutes, dump out the butane through a strainer and filter into a collection vessel, and then refill the thermos with butane, to soak for another 1 hour and 30 minutes.

I set my collection vessel in warm tap water until the visable butane is gone, and then wash it out of the collection vessel with warm ethanol.

I then stick that ethanol in the freezer for 48 hours for winterization.

G'mornin GW ... thanks again for helpin me with this. I Highly Appreciate it!

So, let me see if im getting this right... after dumping the material that has been soaking for 30 minutes......----> You then replace the material that is in the strainer and filter back into the thermos for a "Second" soak? Is this right?

Also, what do you do with "collection vessel" (that has the 30 minute soak in it), while you're waiting for the 1 hour 30 minute soak to finish?
is it just simply sitting in the warm water bath the whole time?
Then when the second soak is done you just pour that through the strainer and New filter right over the 30 minute soak? Or is a different collection vessel used for the longer soak?

what are you using to collect the ethanol in to place it in the freezer?
a glass jar of some sort?

the reason I ask is because I have been using these little jars with screw on plastic caps lately and they seem to work good but if there is something else out there that will work even better i'm all ears.

thanks again my friend... :)

Correct, the drained material is placed back in the thermos and a second extraction is made.

I purge the first collection vessel separate from the second, so it is processing while the second soak is in progress.

The product from the two extractions will be different, but you can just do one 2 hour extraction if you choose. The only reason for the first 30 minute soak, was for bragging rights oil.

so I am assuming then that the first batch is going to be an overall superior product then the second batch?

OK, now the final question(s)....hahaha

when done winterizing in ethanol for two days, do you filter that straight into a pyrex dish sitting in a warm bath to allow the ethenol to evaporate some before scraping onto parchment or do you filter straight onto parchment which is then sitting on something warm?

peace~

For vaporization, I filter into a bain marie container and then pour it into 6" Petri dish or 10" Pyrex pie plate to evaporate off under low heat and a vacuum.

For a sublingual, I set the bain marie container in a 250F hot oil bath and purge, decarboxylate, and formulate in the same container.

ok, and final question... :)

About how much Ethanol do you add to the Bain Marie to dilute the oil if lets say your thermos was 3/4 way full when starting out.
In other words how much ethanol do you add to the oil before winterizing it? do you add enough so that it filters easily through the filters or is it thick & syrupy ?????

Also what size thermos are you using?

Here is the stuff i got from the last round... I was explaining to someone else at another forum that those bubbles weren't there before I folded the oil on to itself to make it easier to store after it was all done. It has held it's consistency very well. I've had this same chunk for over two weeks now and still looks as smooth and clear as the day I made it. No waxing up at all.

I'd like to find a dish that I can filter into and place that directly into my chamber like you do to avoid the bubbles

About 10:1, but by eyeball and enough so that when chilled, the alcohol mixture will still filter easily.

What ever size I get cheap from Goodwill.

grey wolf, could i use a cheap glass setup simliar to this to reclaim my ethanol? Aswell as speed up my evaporation process? im using extracts for smoking or vaporizing, and can get
lab stuff at a brick and mortor pretty quick in my area.

thanx for any input

That will work to reclaim about 90% of the ethanol, but will also partially decarboxylate it. It will still work for vaporization, but won't be shatter.

You will need to boil the last 10% or so off in a more open container, so that you can get it out afterwards.

cool thats what i figured kus i still gota get it outa the beaker lol.
i just want it because it pretty much pays for itself just on saving everclear. im sure the people at the store can fill me on which configuration would work with electric hotplate. Is the ethanol that I reclaim ready for use once again after? or has it changed state in some way?

im ok with a sap texture, i just finished my first absolute run, ended up with rich golded orange color sap. seemed to be easier to evaporate than isopropyl . does absolute "hit u" quicker than raw bho ? kus i know u sed the thc acetate hits quicker than raw bho?

but once again just wanna say thanx to grey wolf and everybody else who shared how to do this process aswell as continuing to answer my questions.:thank you::tiphat:

The ethanol will be usable for extraction or winterizing as is, but will be a "Gin", in that it will also contain some terpenes. It will also contain more water.

Absolute is smoother than raw oleoresin, and more potent per unit volume, but doesn't pass the blood brain barrier any quicker.

Perhaps he could fractionally distill the gin, if he wants to purify the alcohol, GW? Not every time but after it's been used a few times.

Lovely sample you've got there, Highburn. :good:
