Clones came in dirt! Help!

Hello everyone,

I have just received 70 clones in soil and I am set up with ebb/flow with
Hydroton in 6" net pots. What is the best method for making these babies grow?

From research I have gathered options are:

1. Place clones into rockwool cubes, flood 1 inch below cubes. Hand water for a week until the roots have reached the hydroton.
The problem with this is in order to keep the rockwool dry my flood levels are only about 1/2 of the net pot.

2. Rinse the soil off the roots in a vitamin B water solutionand float into hydroton filled net pots.

I am doing this in about 3 hours and any suggestions from experienced growers would be immensely appreciated!!!!

gently rinse the dirt off the roots and bury in the hydroton.
don't try and overcomplicate it

ive gotten clones before in plastic cups full of soil. to wash off the soil use a garden hose and gently rinse/massage the dirt off the roots, then place the plant into your hydroponic medium like an aeroponic clone.

no big deal, just takes some time. i never noticed stunted growth after washing off clones in soil, usually they perk right up once transplanted

#2 is the easiest IME. I just used mildly cold tap water and it was fine. It can be nice to have a container to dip the dirty roots into and just swish the water around them. Gentle and patient.

I went from soil mix in beer cups to hydroton in 6" pots for reference.

if you already have the rockwool cubes than THAT would be easiest. Just stick the clone in and start rolling. It will be less stressful on the clone by far.

However, if you have to make a special trip to the store than just do number two. If it was me I wouldn't rise it though, I would mix up two small buckets with clean pH'd water. Hold it under water in the first bucket while gently swishing and removing the soil, then dunk in the second bucket to fine tune the cleaning. Then go right into the netpots.

I would not stress about it really, soil isn't going to hurt anything. It will just make cleaning out the system a little dirtier when the run is completed.
