First Grow Attempt.....Successfull I Hope!!

hi I will be doing my first grow in a few days and ive chosen sweet tooth auto fem seeds from barneys farm due to the height and yield of the plant and quality doesn't really have to be STINKING!! as its just for myself to smoke. I will be using a 250w dual spec cfl lamp and have 2 plants in 1 gallon pots. I know it says use 2 gallon pots but im planning 2 plants and thought id give the 1 gallons a go to see if it restricts the size a tad. my space is 1.8ft depth, 3 feet wide and about 5 feet high. I plan to start these seeds under a 250w dual spec cfl with 20/4 light ratio all the way. the room is fully reflective and has a 12" oscillating fan, also im using levingtons multi purpose compost with clay pebbles for drainage. do you think expecting 3oz is abit much? anybody that could help me plz reply. p.s im using plant magic grow and bloom and I will be starting them with root stim as ive heard it works wonders for autos

Don't expect anything besides a learning experience. You'll probably grow some bud barring a disaster, but don't get your mind set on a certain amount of results or it will lead to extreme disappointment 3 months later. I don't have any experience with autoflowering plants, in fact, I have cheese auto and a few others that came as freebies but don't fit my style of growing (perpetual) and since I wasn't planning on smell filtration in my mother room, I cant toss them in there. I'm not familiar with your growing medium, but I would use some perlite in the soil mix, and the clay pebbles at the bottom of the pot. Dont start off blasting your plant with nutes either, the soil should be enough for the first 2 weeks or so and then SLOWLY start with the juice so you don't burn them. Do a lot of searching and research on here, and the internet in general and you will find your way. Every thing you are doing has been done by someone somewhere and there is literally no situation that hasn't been seen. just search.

ok thanks for your help although I have managed to grow a crop outdoor totally by accident. my friend gave me some seeds so I planted them and what do u know?? they grew! im not a totally useless gardener but this will be my first indoor grow. I have been told that this strain will grow in just about any environment (obviously the better the conditions the better the results) but just wondered if anybody had any tips for me to make sure its a decent crop. I have also added 20% perlite to the mix before planting and I know the nute situation, im going to give them quarter strength grow at about 2 wks and then half strength at about 3 wks only using nutes every other watering then when I see signs of bloom give it half strength bloom then at 4 weeks they should be on full strength bloom and would of already been slightly hungry due to not being fed enough nutes in the grow stage. does this sound about right??? any info you could give me would be very helpful and greatly appreciated and so will criticism.... as long as its constructive lol. cheers folks :)

I'm about 6 weeks from seed on my first grow and I can tell you to be patient and take everything slowly. As you encounter problems come on here and check out the infirmary, you'll begin to learn to read what your plants are saying to you. I first experienced a calcium deficiency then came on here to see what it was, then had a little nute burn when I over-corrected the nute schedule. Just take everything slow and don't kill them with kindness, water when the soil is almost dry but still has some slight dampness when you stick your finger in it. Basically it's a wild and fun ride, the first grow or 2 your basically just trying not to kill them haha as crazy as it sounds, but if your passionate about it you'll be there in no time... good luck!

im just finishing my first ever grow (from seed), and its been so much fun https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=255252
Didnt think id make it to be honest. thought i woulda killed em by now doing something wrong.lol

I cant really give any hints and tips in terms of the plants, but in terms of environment, id say make sure u got it under as much control as possible. The more factors you can minipulate and get into the correct 'zones', the better the plants will be and grow.
The other thing ive learnt is to train my plants and not let them grow straight up, especially if height is restricted.

Outta curiosity, can autoflowers be topped and trained like normal plants, or do they use too much of their life cycle recovering from the topping to give decent amount for an autoflower?

Oh, and biggest thing i forgot to mention, is be safe. If people live nearby, get ureself a good carbon filter. Acoustic ducting helps with noise if u need to keep stealthy. I ran my environment in negative pressure, and it worked excellent for me so far. No smells at all, and has also helped draw air so i didnt use an intake fan at all.

Just some stuff to think about, but im sure ure gonna do well mate. Enjoy the journey!

Peace,
Sticky

just been and had a good look thru ur journal of ur first grow sticky and tbf you done an awesome job, I know theres no way on earth mine are going to be anything like these as im only using a single cfl but I have noticed 1 thing about my babies, 1 seems to have a nice purple, red tint to it and the other doesn't yet theyre the same strain... any ideas what this is all about anybody?

Without pictures it is difficult to tell for sure...

It could be:
* Different phenotypes showing,
* One plant is under a stress point; such as a cold draft or a cool spot of the room or light.
* Unevenly mixed soil.
* Early symptoms of Phosphorus deficiency.
* Under more direct force of a circulation fan.
* Cal/mag imbalance.

Try moving the plants around the grow area.
Also check the Ph of the run off from a couple different pots.
