Revolt digital ballast help....!

Okay so i purchased two 600 watt light/reflector/ballast kits and they came with Revolt digital ballasts and what looks like some type of no-name 600w bulbs.

I am looking to upgrade the bulbs as i am sure they are not top of the line when it comes to the 600 watt market. My question is, which brand of bulb will work with my Revolt ballasts? Before people hate on me, i have Googled this topic and haven't REALLY found a definite answer. Btw yes, i know, Revolt probably isn't the top of the line ballast either, but it came with the kit so i am going to run with it for a while.

If anyone can steer me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated!

The Revolt digital ballast

Mr. no name bulb lol

Just curious what u paid? And what kind of reflector? I would say go ahead and run the bulbs for one cycle and then upgrade

I paid $222 for the whole kit. I've seen them at like $188 but whatever i'm just happy to have my own equipment finally.

Thanks for your input! One question though, i have heard that Hortilux usually only work with s104 magnetic ballasts?

Hi darren,
I've never heard of that ballast but if I were you . . .

I'd go ahead and do a grow using the generic bulbs. There will probably be things with the grow that need to be dialed in which will have more effect on the crop than the (presumably) less than optimal lamp.

After a grow or two, I'd buy Ushio replacement bulbs.

So will i get by just fine with this ballast? Or would an upgrade be worth my while in the future?

You'll be fine with those ballasts forsure if you upgrade eventually id go to 1000w just my opinion:) The ballasts i have aren't the most expensive but they work well and iv never had a problem why spend huge coin on quantum or lumitek when cheaper ones do the job just as well. Don't get me wrong quantum and lumitek are great ballasts i just cant justify the cost for myself personally, i get the digitbrites 1000s for less than 1/2 the price i could get the others hope that helps

I read something on another forum where a person claims that using 1000 ballast w/600 bulb shortens the lifespan of the bulb? Or am i thinking of 1000 bulb w/ 600 ballast? hmm... Thanks for the response!

Thanks for your input! And i agree, there are environmental adjustments and other tweaks that probably effect the crop more than a slightly better ballast or a few thousand lumens. :chin:

Okay, yeah i just bought these kits so i wont be looking at 1000w for a while yet, if ever. My current place and situation doesn't really lend itself to 1000w and the power consumption that comes with it. Plus i plan on doing a 6x3 table w/ 2x 600's so i think that's plenty for me right now.:artist:
