NPK and ACT help me clear up the myth?

I Swear I Can Swear By The AACT! But Can I Possibly Over Do Em?

Mad was hardly an authority. I myself have always stressed that having a living soil is essential, at least to my form of gardening. There have been times when I have grown using only ACT as an ongoing nutrient base but my soil has been comprised of upwards of 75% organic matter.

Otherwise, I've posted my general cannabis growing method here multiple times in detail but really can't rewrite presently. I do not think that a soil once amended is 100% perpetual. We used ACT, fish hydrolysate, molasses, vermicompost, kelpmeal, alfalfameal topdress and EM & worms between harvest; 64 days max plant to harvest; 1.2 pounds (indica) per light; 5 years same soil; notill

:comfort:

I will def. be documenting what I stumble upon here shortly!
Now much interesting going on ATM with 10 seedlings.
BUT thanks to the OP and gang for this thread and all the info abound!

I started reading over at Grasscity and then made my way to RIU with me threads, only to discover the ORGANICS section at ICMAG Damn!

Either way, I just completed my 1st two successful 100% organic grows(8 plants harvested, 14 ounces in the jar!) this past spring, and I FELL IN LOVE with the AACT.

I mixed by the gallon and aerated w/ a 10gal fish tank pump for usually around 24hrs, never really any longer.
But a few recipes that I've used used were:

1gal dechlorinated H20
1/4 cup compost(or amended recycled soil)
1tbsp Hi-P Bat Guano
1tbsp Molasses(Unsulpherd)
1tsp Neptunes Harvest Liquid Fish
1tsp Kelp Meal

I started last run with CFLs and an amended batch of FFOF which did me justice, and I finished with 400wHPS and a more improved batch of the FFOF.
This time around I'm using the soil that I reclaimed and reamended from that last grow.
This mix is as follows:

Growing Medium
My 100% Organic$uperbSoil Mix
Each 9 gallon batch of reclaimed, recycled, Fox Farms Ocean Forest Base soil I reconditioned w/

  • 3 Gallons(48 cups) Pete’s Mushroom Compost
  • 3 Gallons(48 cups) Nutri-Fibre Compost
  • 2 Gallons(32 cups) General Hydroponics Ancient Forest Compost
  • 2 ½ Gallons(40 cups) Red Wiggler castings
  • 3+ Gallon( roughly 53 cups) Perlite
  • 1 cup Hi-Cal Lime,
  • 1 cup Algamin Kelp Meal 1-0-2
  • ½ cup Indonesian Hi-P Bat Guano .5-12-.2
  • ½ cup Espoma Tomato Tone 3-4-6
  • ½ cup Azomite
  • 1 cup Greensand 0-0-0.1
  • 4 cup Glacial Rock Dust
  • 17 tsp Mycorrhizae spores.
The soil mix that I used for those 3 plants originally was:

  • -1.5 cubic feet(roughy 11 Gallons) Fox Farm Ocean Forest
  • -2 Gallons(roughly 30 cups) Perlite
  • -3 tbsp Hi-Cal lime
  • -1 ½ Gallon(24 cups) Wiggle Worm Earth Worm Castings
  • - ¾ cup Espoma Tomato Tone 3-4-6
  • -1 ½ cups Algamin Kelp Meal 1-0-2
  • - ¾ cup Espoma Greensand 0-0-0.1
  • -7.5 cups Glacial Rock Dust

I've bulked up the amount and variety of compost in the soil and reamended it to the tune of half everything that I initially amended it with, in mineral and nutritional terms.
I've built the soil this way so that I can hopefully use AACTs and push things to the limit, given I've got the best buffer in the soil ecosystem at my disposal.

MM, have you done any side by side with using an AACT sparingly and using the AACT with every watering?
I feel like I have noticeable growth EVERY TIME within a 4 hour period, so I've effectively tailor made my latest mix for this reason.
Can you think of any problem i might run into with using a rotation of teas every single watering?

I never give the same tea twice in a row, bcuz I know it's hit and miss sometimes. And If I am "hitting" everytime, I don't wanna keep giving the same thing over and over.

I know this is a LONG and drawn out response lol, but I'm hoping in contributing a bit, maybe you guys'll find me worthy of you help :tiphat:

I'm not saying it works the same for everyone but I've never had a problem using ACT almost every watering.

I'm thinking EVERY watering.

What do you think about the possibility of over-populating the soil ecosystem by ecessive use of AACT? Developing and abundance of any particular micro organism, throwing things out of whack, in the "living" soil?
I don't do no till atm. I just recycle soil in batches and finish in #3pots.
But i've learned that not every brew will be the same and what's not utilized right away will just makes it's way thru the soil ecosystem in some form or fashion.

And I understand the using different teas at different times, which I do, so with that question I mean during veg or during flower have you ever thrown you soil "off" with excessive AACT use?
The only time I've ever seen ANY ill effects is when I used Molasses in excess once.
I think I with maybe 3 tbsp to the gallon? I can't be sure tho. Maybe have been 2, but it was 2 or 3.
The tea smelled sweeter than earthy at about 20hrs and rather than discarding it, I used it anyways. Seems the kelp and molasses give that teas a sweet smell anyways, but this was EXTRA SWEET.

I came to the conclusion shortly after given what I experienced, that I gave my plants a brief S tox. So I combated that with balanced teas for the next couple weeks.
Lost a good bit of fan leaves, but the bud leaves weren't scaved, so I know the fans bared the brunt
