Hi guys, I was hoping someone experienced might chime in. I am looking to adjust the amendments in this mix to use in just 1 2 cuft bag of happy frog.

1 x Bag of Ocean Forest
1 x Bag of Canna Coco
1 X Bag of Happy Frog
1/2 Bag Chunky Perlite
30# Earth worm castings
6 cup pulverized dolomite lime 2-1 Cal/mag ratio
6 cups Bone Meal
3 cups Blood Meal
3 Cups Azomite
3 cups Greensand
3 cups Kelp Meal

I have been running this mix with just water no ferts and have great results but I would like to drop down to a smaller plant number and dont want to mix up the whole huge batch.

Am I fucking up to simply divide it all by 3?
Thanks in advance.

Cheers

TG

Might want to divide out the ammendments by 3.5-4 since you're not using any coco to tame down the happy frog.

No where near an expert but from what i can gather id go with:
This recipe you have makes roughly 7cuft of soil... you want 2 so divide eveything by 4 and youll be just a little weaker then a normal batch(id rather be weaker then "hot"....)????

-mix 1/4 of all your soils(OF, HF, CC, Perlite, and even 30# EWC)
this should make like 2.3ish cuft if i added correct....(not an actuary haha)

-then to this mix 1/4 of all your amendments(just divide them by 4(wont be even numbers but if your original recipe calls for pound increments then you have a scale i hope...)(again will be just a little weaker then a normal batch but weaker is way better then burnt plants, worst case hit it with a tea or 2 in flowering....)

I am of the thinking people overfeed the fuck out of there plants so ya id rather be a bit weaker then stronger.

I have a couple comments but not sure how helpful it is.

The problem with amending a bagged soil such as FFOF is that you don't know how much is already in there. You want to add things like azomite and greensand bonee, ingredients that are already in FFOF in the first place. But we don't know how much. do e? if it's deficient then yes you want to add 6 cups of lime, or maybe a bit less. i guess it doesn't really matter if you add too much lime. The other ingredients though, it's tough to say how much to add because of that problem. same issue with not knowing what's exactly in the castings.

Personally though I wouldn't follow a specific liming formula or reason for it, ie the acidity of peat. Also I would leave dolomite out if i was adding azomite, greensand or rock phosphate, even regular lime, they all contain magnesium in the elemental form (afaik)

you can't over do kelp so 3 cups for amending 3 bare CF should work well (though it's the high end amount of kelp, a medium amount being round 1/2- 3/4 cups per CF

yeah the coco is one of the things that makes that mix work NTM the additional drainage

most important is the 30# EWC

FFOF is supposed to be ready to go as is but; 1 approach could be to go w/ the 'as-is' strategy and topdress w/ some EWC and/or use EWC slurry if you have problems

a top dress w/ kelp meal could help in flower if the FFOF is a bit light for water only to the end {i always mulch w/ EWC or compost when i top dress}

In the organic realm???
Not quite so cut and dry.
The plants eat what they want, when they want to eat with the help of microbes. . You are still thinking in the hydro mentality.
I have learned one thing... When I make a heavy amended soil, I let it sit and compost for a longer time than normal.

But I will say, you can grow some rope a dope with very little amendments...

my two cents here. for the money you'll be spending on the faux farm and other pre bagged stuff, you could invest in a pretty solid base mix of; high quality EWC, compost, top soil, peat and arreatation (pumice, lava rock, rice hulls). from there focus on your "food mix", "fix it mix" and "mineral mix" then you'll be set to grow some top quality bud.

if you don't have a worm bin going, I strongly recommend getting one started ASAP as it takes a month or two to get a usable quantity. started mine about two months before I popped my first seeds and easily top 8 best decisions I've made to date. worm poop is the shit...literally.
