Thanks for the answers, I try it again. Is Canada an european America or an american Europe? Or just Canada?
Did you always drove on the right side? Does the english speaking majority makes jokes about the french speaking canadians?

Hi Herman...I think the answer is Canada is Canada...neither the u.s. or Canada have the history of European countries...so to compare is not really.....applicable...but everyone in the world makes fun of french Canadians right?

The French Canadians are still a bit pissy about those British squatters with guns showing up in 1759 but they haven't blown up anything in a while so...

You are correct, Lost. King Louie XIV recruited from the orphanages and the workhouses young ladies by offering money to settle in Quebec. A surprising number of girls from a rising merchant middle class also joined the Filles du Roi (Kings Daughters) who numbered about 800 between 1663-73. The lure of becoming land-owners in a new land must have been a powerful incentive coming from a rigid feudal culture where only a very lucky marriage could elevate a girl from a hard life.

They got a harder life, as winter along the St.Lawrence is no picnic, but most got title to property through marriage
The monetary & land offer was also made to the Army units sent earlier to quell the Iroquois incursions into the trade friendly Huron lands.
The Huron became much less friendly with the French when the Black Robes (Jesuits) showed up to 'save them from Hell and Damnation'.

Louis interest in the wealth producing sugar plantations in the Caribbean overruled his minor interest in New France so the numbers of colonists remained tiny compared to the English efforts in America.

Canada is definitely Canada.

I have always enjoyed my times up there, the places I have been have all been nice , clean and the people were great.

As far as the boarder goes I have always been fucked with far worse by the American side coming south, than heading north. Try telling an American border agent on Jan 1st that you just drove to Halifax for the night and are now heading home.

Once you travel there in the winter if you are from the lower 48 you will have a new understanding of cold.

Hocky is a religion there, people are nuts about it just like our hard core sports fans.

One of the funniest things I read on a genealogy board was this guy waxing eloquent on French culture and the response from an American obviously familiar with French habits:

"Ok, dude, whatever...
If you can call smoking in Church culture..."

A slight exaggeration, but only by a little.

I agree our government is far from perfect or Canada is perfect but id put our humane treatment of people around the world against any country! and as far as Nazis that's a bit harsh isn't it come on now unless Nazis means something else to you but to me it seems a bit harsh, just my opinion tho:) that's part of being Canadian by the way letting people have there own opinions without being worried about persecution:)

lol sorry Harper makes my skin crawl..

honestly your political system isn't run by canadians for canadians at the top.. i just used an extreme term to describe such backstabbing sleezeballs.. since the nazis ruined germany and the top elites running the show were not really german, in the same way i see Harper as an installed puppet..

canada is 100% crown property you know..
