I'm in Ohio so its a bit of a chore to keep good quality grown herbs in my jar being we are still non-mmj. So anyway this involves a bit of networking as you get older there are fewer options to buy from, anyway got 2zips recently from different sources neither could tell me what strain they were. The only reason it bugs me is bcuz they a super quality grown herbs
-end rant:thank you:
BTW still super stoked i did get such great quality herbs

and... who really knows that if the name they did give you was its true strain name. ive known lots of people who would just happen to call it whatever they wanted to call it and that was that. i gave up on strain names loooooong ago. they never are legitimate.

Hello all,

Well then you are in a unique position of naming it anything you want.

But really, "a rose is still a rose"....

No way you're goin figure out the type of weed from the smell and what not. You can get close, but since you can't get it confirmed its as good as if you made that up. Even if they told you it was OG Kush, could you verify that somehow? Probably not right? The name really only matters to growers... smokers know good smoke when they smoke it.

Why do you even care what strain it is? Whats your favorite strain?

The reason there no name is because the grower is worried about a buzz building up about and then it all getting traced back to them. If you have a hard time getting dank they have twice as hard a time growing dank.

I think this is your problem right here. I've been to Ohio, and from what I saw, ya only had 2 choices: Commercial (seedy, bricked, some OK, some not so much) and "hydro" (just means un-compressed and might even be indoor).

I think that once ya'll get MMJ consumers will (hopefully) get a bit more informed, and strain names will be more common.

actually Ohio has great marijuana, we have given deathstar, dumpster, lemon G and a good variety of others to the long list of strains. I used to grow quite regularly b4 the kids came along so I am well aware of the different strains and their different characteristics. I just prefer to medicate w/ indica's or indica heavy hybrids so knowing the strain is helpful. I get allot of strains that do come w/ names and it is helpful, recently i got some strawberry cough and its hard to not tell that it is what it is. Death star also very distinct strain w/ smell and buzz type, so Ohio knows its marijuana for sure !

Right on man, ive been out of any main stream scene, you know backwoods, so thats my reference. Ive tried lots of that stuff and I guess I agree I can spot a few, but don't you think you can spot the same stuff because its all cuts from the same original mother or something. Ive come across many phenos of the same original seed in my days, so nobody could even tell if two weeds were actually the same genetic material... thus the same strain name. Must be some big growers to set up such a stable network of headies that people can get to know them without publicizing, as they can do out west.

Peace

Ohio has great herb.

Medical status won't bring you anything better than what is there now.

Plenty of strains don't have names.

They don't even need names until somebody wants to be able to pigeonhole their "product".

My advice is to enjoy what Ohio has to offer and steer clear of Lemon G.

Tastes great with no high to back it up.

If you're having problems finding good herb in Ohio you're probably in a town flooded with some of that Michigan medical overage.

It's there it's just not as profitable to sell with cheap "legal" herb to sling instead.

You are probably better off being in your thirties than in your twenties if you want the best in my opinion... because the kids don't have it.

It's a decrim state. Enjoy yourself.

When medical passes it's just going to be harder to find the gems.
