My caliber iv has been working perfectly. I don't see the need to buy the older version.

Apparently, the Caliber IV was introduced as a response to lower grade copies of Caliber III. I have some Caliber IVs on the way and will be modifying the original post, if they work out as planned. Good luck.

Sounds great man. I'm still using a knockoff flukers that I found a pet shop it works wonderful. Thanks to you Simon bro I have been able to call my stuff superb, after about six months now with this method I believe I have gotten the curing down perfect. I have cured as fast as three or four days with this method and I have cured for as long as 3-4 weeks with this method. Every time its great. Again thank u! View attachment 215992

Great news. I just realized that there's a disparity between the readings on two of my Caliber IIIs. I've also noticed that the buttons on each seem to perform different functions.

Might be time to order a IV. :thank you:

(or four!)

Dried to 59% RH, now I just have to find jars big enough to hold these

Warm air holds more water than cold air.
What's difficult in the tropics is keepin the RH down.

Right on Weeze,

That is an ambient temperature and not from a heating system. Once our piss poor excuse for winter goes away and the temps climb, it can take 3-4 times as long for hanging plants to dry enough to move to paper bags and then to jars as it does in the drier air of our winter seasons.

That sounds like a great drying environment for sure. As for curing, it might be tough. There is a LOT of air in that room and when the drying buds run out of extra moisture, depending on the outside RH, the room may start drying out too much to maintain the RH.

I'll agree with that. Here in Denver, the humidity is often very low indoors in the winter. So when burping the drying room, it'd be easy to over dry, lose the cure, unless there was a very large quantity of MJ in the room.

For me the first time through, once the buds got near dry, containers ~ half full gave me very good control as I eased the humidity down into the desired range...

I want to thank simon for revealing this method. It's absolutely terrific.

Here in Denver, humidity is often very low, so I decided to add 62% boveda packs to the basic recipe. The results are marvelous. Buds that smoked harsh & grassy when first dried 2 months ago now smoke smooth & tasty. The best aspects of the aroma and taste have been enhanced & mellowed, even as potency is preserved.

There's some still curing at 62% RH, even as a fresh crop is drying, being prepared for "the cure". I'm eager to find out what even longer cure times can produce. The hard part is filling jars faster than they're emptied, but we'll get there.

I have 10 caliber 3s and 3 or so give a reading 4% lower then the others

What would you guys do in this case? Just believe the reading that the majority of the meters gives? 68% o 64% is a big difference and I am not sure now if it is at 64 or 68

Assuming you have good batteries, I'd use a piece of tape with +4 written on it for the outliers.

These instruments give us quantitative numbers to work with but curing is still a subjective thing and based on experience.

+1

YOu can't fix them, so all you can do is keep track of the difference.

Hi :D

I'm using this method for my first cure. I was wondering, when Simon says

+70% RH - too wet, needs to sit outside the jar to dry for 12-24 hours, depending.

What are the temp requirements? i.e. between 15C (59F) to 21C (70F), or should I place them somewhere cooler, like <15C (59F)?

Any input is appreciated!!

Thanks
