Anyone know the story behind all these used dehumidifiers?

Looking on craigslist for used units and I keep coming across ads that have 10-15 used Phoenix 200's for sale.

Just now I saw an ad where dude has 75 available, $1000 a piece.

Seems fishy to me for some reason, anyone know what's up? Are these things from Katrina or what?

Why so many people trying to sell so many Phoenix 200's?

manufacturers defect and he figured out the fix or bought a lot of defective units at a deep discounted and fixed them is my guess

the worst thing about "used" equipment is that pathogens that are now in the vents will be introduced you your existing environment if you don't disinfect it correctly

they could also be stock salvaged from flooding by hurricane

Could be an insurance/restoration company closing down. My buddy has a thriving business in that area and it requires a lot of heavy equipment like that for water damaged homes and businesses. 10-15 would not be a lot to have.

Hey PK, you got a Sante Fe don't you? Classic? If so how do you like it? Hate to buy new but a new classic is not much more than these used Phoenix I keep seeing.

I have the Santa Fe XT I believe it is called, it is better then the classic. They run around 2100. I love it, water constantly runs out of it. I also run 2 60 pint LG units in veg, I plan to replace them with another santa fe and have even better control.

Here is a link to the unit.

Gulp. God I'm sick of spending spending spending.

I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir on that though. Oh well, come this far can't stop now.
