Actually there are a couple good reasons to make some indicas stretch.
1. If growing w other plants that elongate more. This will leave the indica too far below the light as it's raised to accommodate the taller plants.
2. Some indicas are so squat and bushy that elongation is necessary to create a scrog.
And if you want a sure bet, use PGRs as in gibberellins. I have some ProGibb 4% and its even OMRI listed.
If the indica in question does not grow tall enough, then choose a different plant to grow with the rest of you're plants, or, use different plants when growing said indica, if you absolutely have to grow a shorter finishing indica around taller plants then you are going to get a better yield from it, by raising said plant on a platform, either way, making it stretch is not beneficial
Again, this may "seem" beneficial, but growing a faster growing taller strain "un-stretched", is still going to out yield a stretched plant, If your short indica, bushes too much at the bottom, again the sensible thing to do would be to choose a better suited plant, then stay on top of you're pruning to force energy toward growing the apical stem, stretched plants have a much thinner structure, and generally a lower osmotic pressure = less nutrient uptake.well, I do it to maximize a taller more narrow space with vertical growing methods. and you can always keep vegging and get it as tall as you want, but too much energy is spent bushing out and the lower plant gets too dense for your space. I have this issue every grow.
less light in veg is key. I do it all the time.
In my opinion there is no good reason to "stretch" a plant in relation to Cannabis, just use a different strain
