Why sometimes some fan leaves rotate vertically? To much light for them?

Hi

I sometimes have this problems with my biggest leaves on two of my 3 plants. They are 4 weeks in veg and sometimes 1 leaves from each of the 2 plants rotate and they stay in a vertical position with the bottom of the leav facing the light.
I thought is too much light for them but sometimes the other leaves are like antennas, straight up, they seem very powerful and bend toward the light while one leave is turned with the back to the light and completely vertical.

I attached this pic for a better idea. Anyone can help and give me an idea what the plant is telling me? Thanks!!

I wonder the same exact thing. I have this happen quite often as well. Hopefully someone can shed some light.

Allot of mine do that, and their the healthiest plants so I think that's a good thing

@Bull I do have a fan but its not to close to the plants and its not blowing so strong that the leave can turn like that from the power of the fan.

any time a plant "moves" in response to a stimulus its an example of tropism,be it photo, hydro, chemo, thermo,or geotropism.with photo-tropism it should be easy enough to tell simply by placing the plant in a different position in relation to the light source and giving the leaves enough time to change position.

@uncle, i see, i'll do a test to see if its the light that cause this, but if its the light the cause why other leaves need light and stand up and bend strongly toward lights? I thought that if there is to much light for the plant will be for the whole plant not for 1 or two leaves. In rest My plants are healthy in my opinion, big strong, well developed for their age, etc.

it would just be a first step in narrowing down whether it is a photo-tropic response as opposed to some other environmental factor.the next step would be to mark the pot edge with a compass so to speak so you could keep it aligned and mark out a grid in your room so you could move a plant into different angles in relation to the light source and look at how the leaves orient themselves at each position.if they continue to move in such a way that its clear they are orienting towards the light source then you can be reasonably certain its a positive photo-tropic response.

if the leaves orient themselves in a way to minimize light absorption then it may not be a negative photo-tropic response it could also be in response to heat or excess humidity in the localize microclimate. im sure we have all seen in a dense canopy where one leaf overlaps another and you will see water beaded up on the lower leaf.sometimes leaves will cup themselves up so that they can transpire more readily, but that would be a negative tropic response since the plant is trying to get away from a situation of excess water...

lol, they are just plants after all,and they are pretty good at being plants so long as you provide a nice place for them...so really just hanging out and working in your garden space will tell you more than anything...if you feel comfortable in the garden area over an extended time, the plants most likely are too.

Of course i feel ok in the garden, i think they are happy with the conditions and i dont worry too much about their leaves bending vertically but i just wanted to learn some more about plants and how they behave sometimes and why.

P.S. You or anyone else if interested can see some more pics and a little journal of my girls at this link https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=260849 Im growing 3 LSD plants from Barneys and 1 Cheese from Dinafem
