Apollo 11 Genius Pheno F3 - Bodhi Seeds

S

Scrappy-doo

I popped 11 of these several months ago, and a security breach forced me to shut down and relocate. I've been hiding real low for awhile on the forums, but now that I'm back I wanted to share what I've been working on.

When I shut down my op, my plants all went through lots of stress and odd light schedules, or no light at all for several days. They've spent time in the oddest of places and in the care of less than qualified people until I could get a solid home for them.

I'm still nursing these back to health, but threw my males into flower and am trying to decide on a keeper stud to make F4's with and also to chuck a little pollen with.

So hopefully anyone with experience with the genius pheno may care to chime in, or anyone who thinks a particular male stands out visually.

So, here are the boys:

#5 as you can tell is a bit behind the others so I'll put another pic of him up in a week or so

The girls are still recovering a bit and adjusting to their most recent transplant. I will take pics of them as I put them into flower.

greetings, I wanted to refrain from posting on ICMag without pictures - but I love this thread.. 4 and 5 seem like the same photo though I really like 1 - 3, personally 2 for me because it looks like it leans more sativa from the finger spacing (and looks to have the tightest/thickest flower formation so far; but its early on) but if you're looking for a more indica expression the first pheno's fingers overlap. 3 looks like a good inbetween because it's pretty short, but its still early on.. I would judge them overall by which leaning you'd prefer more (sativa/indica) but mainly tight flower structure and nice stalk scents (can you smell anything good yet?), then later on things like trichs is what I look for - but thats more uncommon on males, its a great sign

Hi

#3 is the closest you have. genius will display distinct angular branching. makes those crazy angle at every node. Branches, main stem every where there's a node

regardless should make some nice smoke.

Make some beans and pop about 50 if your ded set on a genius .

Good luck.

Thanks for the info there's some great points you made. I actually cut #2 already because I'm looking to find a male with genius characteristics. I did save the bottom 1/3 of this plant though so I could always flower him out again. He smelled pretty good it's just he didn't have the angular branching I've heard the genius pheno exhibits.

none of the above look like the genius pheno

Thanks for letting me know. Do you have any idea where I might find pics of the genius pheno? I'd really like to have something to compare mine to. Hopefully one of the females look closer.

Ya #3 is the one I am leaning towards thanks for your help brother! I think I'm going to use that one and I'll also collect pollen from one of the larger males that have some angling and look to yield a bit more.

Thanks for your vote and for stopping by Cheerful, and welcome to the show!

I have chosen #3 and also #4 to collect some pollen from. I've saved the bottoms of all the males for now and they're back in the veg room except # 5 which is still in flower.

actually, the best you can do is have all those studs pollinate whatever females you want. then the probability of finding whatever pheno you are looking for in the next generation will increase.

I vote for #3 also, but if you have the resources you might want to collect some pollen from all of them and pollenate a bud on each girl with the mixed pollen, and another one with just the pollen from your selected male. That way you'll also have a small stash of 'open-pollenation' seeds if that interests you.

I think I remember Bodhi stating that the pure Apollo line from him is no more due to loss of one of the parents. So it you end up liking it as much as some do, you'll be glad you made seeds.

Im with the other guys. run all the males and females in open pollination. the more genetic diversity the better chance finding that recessive genius trait. Its there you just have to find it.

I have some old A11f2's from brothers Grimm stock maybe I will join you in the hunt. I ran Fet's BB Sat x genius and ice princess x genius back in the day. Never had anything close to a genius phenol.

Good luck

i have some going too, ive been selecting on quickness, floral density, frost, and good structure without lack of vigor... you can always choose your favorite female and hit her with all the males banked pollen when you make your selection, total male pollination with the desired female narrows down your search with maximum traits from the male side.

Most definitely worth the effort. BB Sat was some of the best BB I've smoked. Ice princes was nice and frosty but not as memorable as the BB. If you run those BB sats make sure your odor control is up to the task. I thought it smelled great but nonsmokers found it a little funky.

I plan on doing them again after I test my new system. New charcoal for scrubbers first though.

Brothers Grimm, Spice brothers / Fet made some pretty dank stock. Not bad from Jack sack seed.

Thanks everyone for your input. I think I'm going to take all of your advice and go for an open pollination. I'll collect pollen from all 5 males mixed together and pollenate a branch on each female to make a bunch of F4's to search through at a later date.

Here's the final male, #5 taken a few days ago. I just took him out of the flower room and put him with the others.
