Week 3, last week of veg. All of the plants were moved into the bloom area, but were kept on an 18/6 light cycle. I hadn’t put up the divider yet, that went up in the first week of bloom.

Week 6, or week 3 of bloom. I missed two weeks of pics. You can see the divider I made. I really like the look of a side by side grow. The third pic is of the Platinum XL-U. The pics of the temps are in the HID and LED sides respectively. You can tell from the color.

Week 4 of bloom. I like to take pics of the same things on both sides so you can really compare. The first pic is the plants under LED, second under HID, a little more praying under the LED. Also, i’ve noticed the plants under the HID side are taller but with the same number of flowering sites as those under the LED, so i would say they’re stretching. Last two pics are macros under LED and HID respectively.

Week 6 of bloom, these pics are from today. First pic is a panoramic so you can see the whole space.
White Berry Kush is turning out the be a really nice looking strain. It’s looking to be better for a sea of green vs a scrog. A slow starter but it’s filling in really well. Every leaf and flower is covered with crystals, makes the plant look almost white. Not too much aroma yet, but if you get some of the resin on your fingers it smells sagey and skunky. Props to 40AmpsToFreedom for coming up with this strain.

Here’s another update from today. This is week 7 of bloom, and everything is getting skunky with the occasional berry smell coming thru.
I would say at first glance both sides look similar, but it looks like there are more flower sites per mass under LED with fewer, smaller flower sites and more vegetive mass under HPS. You can see this pretty well in the 3rd pic. Also, i was pinching some buds to check density and the plants under the LED were defintley stickier.
Don’t be shy about feedback on my garden, i think it’s the best way to learn.

Week 8, everything is looking good. Don’t think i mentioned this yet but the side with the HID is ducted out. The Black Dog panel has 4 fans built in, no ducting. I’m posting the temps on each side, these were taken at the same time. Makes sense that the LED side is cooler since it’s running about 400 watts less. It’s really smelling good in there, my carbon filter is getting a good workout. I forgot to take close up shots, but the crystal development is unbelievable.
Next week i’ll clean out the trays and start flushing.

how does the LED side compare to the HID buds when it comes to trichs? the UVAs and blues in the LED panels should be helping with that more than the HPS.

That's what I thought as well; but referring to the blackdogled website the max amp draw is 5.8 @ 120volt which makes it right under 700 watt.
and OP stated that its is 400watt less of 1k, which make it 600watt. I'm confused. Have anyone had a chance to put a meter on the XLU?

Week 9 for the garden. Getting towards the end here, and i really like the way this strain smells. Sweet berry, sage, and skunk. Took some comparison pictures from both sides of the divider.
In the first pic here, the 5 closest plants are the ones that have been growing under HPS. The ones in the background are from the LED side that i moved for a pre-flush tray cleaning.

Last pic, i clean the trays with hydrogen peroxide before flushing.
Both sides are looking good. HPS side is leafier, but it’s hard to say if one side has more weight by just eyeballing it.

WHen i plug in the 1000 watt HPS to the same killawatt, it comes out around 1120-1180 watts. So i'm calling it a 400 watt difference.

@GP73LPC: i think i mentioned it before, there are more flower sites on the LED side (just looking at it, i haven't counted anything) and the buds are stickier on the LED side. I would say the trichs are heartier under the LED. Check out the macro shots in my last post, you can kind of see it.
