I've been looking for the same thing. I had a look online, but it all seems to be quite large amounts. My next plan is to have a word with the ice cream man. Quite often, those little handcarts that you sometimes see ice cream being sold from in town, are kept cold by using dry ice. An ice cream wholesaler and supplier of ice cream equipment may have it. I also saw a dry ice maker. Its just a condenser which you attach to a Co2 bottle, release the gas and collect the dry ice, expensive though, it would only be worth buying if you were making a lot, regularly. Disco/DJ shops may know where to get it, but it would be unusual for them to have it now, as smoke machines are cheap.

Don't do it. Dry ice hash sucks IMO. I've tried it with different bags and different shake times. I ended up packing it into a tube to make bho.

yep,

if you have the bags you might as well make bubble or gumby hash

It's low quality. It doesn't melt; it doesn't taste good. All of the youtube videos are tempting because it looks like you are getting a lot really fast, but it's mostly bullshit filler and not good hash. I smoked a bowl of each of the different micron sizes and shake times, and none of it came anywhere close to good bubble.

i too have tried the dry ice method thinking it would be a great alternative to bubble.. i'm quite messy so the thought of not having to deal with water, ice and a lot of mess was appealing to say the least...

there are a lot of places online to get the dry ice but you have to use it within 24 hours of it arriving because it begins to melt away... I went for dry ice pellets, think I paid 30 quid for 10kg? It was obviously too much but I had fun dropping the pellets in water..

I think my method was to blame, I basically tossed in my hash material and the dry ice into a 120micron bag and shook the shit out of it over a surface... lots of "hash" was produced but it wasn't just the trichs coming through... the dry ice obviously froze everything, then when i was shaking the bag the dry ice was bashing everything up and I was left with powdered leaf... can't smoke it really..

Think I'm going to have to try this out, if only so I can say (at least for myself with my limited technical skills) whether it works or not. :p

of course its not going to be better than bubble or BHO... you can still get fucked up off it or make edibles with it. The return is much more than bubble so good for edibles and stuff.

shake the bag from side to side for about one minute. no need to shake hard.

There are some tricks you need to know about making dry ice hash.

It can be quite good!

Read my story in the next issue of ICMAG, IC4 to find out the best way to make it (in large qty)!

You can buy dry ice in supermarkets usually. Call around.

I've done it with dryice.. I'll do it again, there are a couplea threads on how to make it.. heres one.. thanks NEO420.. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?threadid=247531
The ice goes in a correponding sized bucket with the weed, shake the bucket and herb till there is frost on the outside of the bucket as high as the level of the weed, put the same sized 160/220 bag over the bucket, invert and do like a salt sjaker over something smooth and clean (like glass or pnda film) to scrape it up with.. here in the US dry ice can be bought in the supermarket chains.. it comes in ??? 2-5 lb blocks, but they will let you buy it by the pound, dono bout UK. icecream guy should know.

Bubble making, same as you, too 'messy' so dry ice hash it was. it isnt as pure as bubble, true but alot more simple to the end product. buy a little press and 5 grams and drop or two of grain alcohol. it sells out. I vape and bud is good enough for me.. bubble is very nice, iso hash is good too, should find some iso/wash processes here that isnt too hard or messy: https://www.icmag.com/modules/Find_Threads/index.php?stext=iso+hash GL.:tiphat:

if you have multiple bags it would be best to sieve it through all or most of them to clean it up some... you could also goes as far as performing a soft sieve

its when you re sieve the material through the prior mesh... the trich heads will be the first to go through the mesh (due to density) so by only allowing 75% of the resin powder to pass through you can effectively make it higher quality... this can be performed over and over again where the remaining 75% is passed through the sieve again to remove more and more stalks and plant debris.

this is how people get full melt dry sift... it can also be performed when making ice water hash as well

Thanks for all the info everyone good stuff . It seems the way to go is buying online as there are hardly any places you can buy it off the shelf in the shop. The online places i've had a look at do 3 different types, slabs and 2 different sized pellets i'm assuming the small ones will be best for the job?

I understand that it will not be as clean as bubble hash but before i got my bubble bags i used to use a coffee filter as a quick way to make dry sift and just from doing that it was quite easy to see the gradual increase in green coming thru as it was agitated more and more ,but the first couple of runs that came thru were good and fairly pure certainly passed the test when smoked anyway .

when i do this i might try sifting a little bit at a time and then keeping it seperate , as best as possible anyway so i can at least keep the primo bit fairly pure.

I simply put all my trim in the freezer in a bag, then when I am ready tip it into a bucket cover the top, shake the bucket, covert then sieve with a bit of fine micron cloth/material..you can buy rolls of it really cheaply from various places.. Job done.. collect it all up and put it in a pot...

You can then if you want to.. stick the bucket in the freezer , leave for a while to freeze the material again.. add water and stir it up and let it settle, lift out the plant matter and let settle again and then siphon off the water..pour into a jar etc..settle, siphon then collect with a spoon or pour over a filter..

If the stuff you collected from the initial shaking of the bucket isn't what you expected..i.e - too green...you can simply stick that in a jar of ice water and let settle and strain, to refine it.. I find fresh trim works best for the simple shake method..as if its dry and crispy it simply ends up with loads of leaf matter in it..

Yes, using fresh trim is better as it holds together better as you say (that's one of the tricks).

I don't know about using water, as the point of using DRY ice is to keep it away from water.
