Most of the easy to get at stuff has probably been found. But you'll notice the old gold mines are being re-explored, even the old tailings piles are being reworked... since the price of it has gone way up.

I've known a couple of guys who found it to be a profitable hobby. Probably not as good as growing, but they didn't know how to grow. They did mention 'bedrock' as the goal when searching however.

I've got a couple of friends that make a 'living' from gold in the summer time. Helluva alot of work for 10-15 bucks an hr on average. I like to do it just for fun...however I would like to get an oz. this year.

I could literally fill my pickup several times over with black sand. A friend of mine who does it just for fun was lucky enough to find a 1.8g nugget last year. Im also gonna get into finding sapphires this summer as well.

This is a great reason to throw an extra shovel and some buckets in the back of the truck. Gonna gets me some rock dust this Summer! YEE-HAW!
