First off I must say a huge "THANK YOU" to VerdantGreen for taking a chance on an indoor newbie.

After countless times of throwing my hat in the ring someone's finally giving me a go so, once again, THANK YOU!!!

Secondly...what awesome genetics to start with!!!

CHEM D X SHARKSBREATH!!! OMG!!!

I've always wanted to try one of the Chems and now I have it!!!

Add Sharksbreath to the mix and you'll be able to blindfold me with fishing line my eyes'll be soooo chineezed!!!

Anyway...on with the show...

I am simply amazed by how quickly these beans have started. I soaked them for a few hours, then put them onto a damp paper towel. Well...bugger me dead...they had cracked before the first 24 hours was up!!! 5 out of 5 have popped!!!

This morning all had their tails out so I've just given them their new home and put them to bed...

Updates when they finally break soil.

P.S. Hey VG...we always remember our first!!!:woohoo:

hey i think dasher has a fair few outdoor grows under his belt!

nice one for posting this here.a bit of background - .. the Chem D x Sharksbreath was one of a few fem crosses i made last year. an 'offline' friend who grew all of them out said that this was his favorite. the sharksbreath cut i have had for a few years (from the original regular seeds release) and it has been kept over quite a few 'elites' that ive been lucky enough to come by such as Original diesel, ecsd, giesel etc.

i imagine there will be some variation in the plants and quite a bit of stretch.. but i am hoping for some killer pheno's.

good luck. for those that are interested there are a few more test grows of this cross and others being shown down in my little 'private breeders' forum.

cheers,

VG

I didn't think I'd be posting again after 1 day but, incredibly, two of the girls have actually broken soil!!! It hasn't even been 60 hours!!!

I'll grab piccies first thing tomorrow to prove it but I've gotta say that I'm amazed. I've never had beans sprout in under a week!!!

This cross must have some vigour!!!

At this rate I figure I'll veg 'em for two or three days...flower for 10 days and have a smoke report before Valentines!!! Only joking!!!

Thanks for dropping by, MedicalGrower. Looks like you've got front seats

gOvnaa & Green81...thanks for the wishes.

I can't believe I've been given these genetics too, oldbootz. They're going to be killer!!!

Thanks Jim420. Everybody's a newb at some stage. I'm just grateful that VG had the spuds to try out a beginner

Hey VG...you can't lose!!! If I muck it up it's 'cause even great genetics can be killed by a newbie and if they boom it's because of great genetics!!! Only joking man. Thanks again for taking a chance

Well...it's been just over a week & the young ladies are certainly a surprise!!! ALL had sprouted before the end of the 4th day, which caught me out a bit!!!

These girls are tough!!!

I threw them in the veg area and didn't check on them for a couple of days. Four had started to stretch for the light so I dug them in deeper to support them. I accidentally bent one at right angles so, rather than muck about too much I grabbed another pot to put soil in and transplanted her with a minimum of fuss. So far so good. I've raised them up to the light and none look the worse for wear afterwards.

This is one emerging after just 3 days in soil.

A group shot of them.

Today they get their very own 130w CFL in a modified cab until I clear the veg area in a couple of days. I plan to let them grow in quality soil until they've got their 2nd set of branches. From there it's a quick wash of the roots & into DWC under 5 X 130w CFLs.

More later

Well...today is 3 weeks since soaking these beans and they are galloping!!! Already I can see these babies are far more vigorous than the unknown strain I've been growing for over a decade.

This a family photo. Despite the height differences they all have a slight variation in leaf shape but all have the same branching pattern. Once I got the CFL down close to the canopy they stopped stretching & started branching.

Even the runt at the front has branched despite being snapped in the first few days of her emerging. I hope the trauma actually may benefit her by effectively supercropping her.

As for feeding them...so far I've just let them alone with the supplements in the soil. Normally I'd be juicing my young'uns up with half strength nutes...any suggestions??? Reason I ask is I burnt the hell out of a fruitylicious but my GrapeGod thrived on the same feedings. I understand now by what you guys call "dialling a strain in".

More next week...

hey dasher they look good. they look healthy but a fairly light green so im sure they would be able to take some feeding. Both sides of the cross are can take fairly heavy feeding so you shouldnt have a problem... having said that its good to be careful. i tend to start at half recommended strength.

interesting to see the variation. the fatter leaved ones look very Great White Shark dominant (which is one side of the sharkbreath).
No leaf streaking from the Chem D yet which is good.

cheers

Time for a long overdue update!!!

Got the phone call from my wife on 15th Feb that noone wants...cops were at the door wanting to investigate the odour from my garage. When asked to produce a search warrant they told missus they didn"t have one and did they "really" need one.

Wife phoned me to ask what to do (she's panicky by this stage!!!). After speaking to the cop myself I agreed to come home and I'd let them in (only takes an hour to get warrant anyway).

Short story...I came, led them to shed, they took plants and all grow gear. I helped them pull everything apart. After they took a statement they left.

Now for the best part...if the lazy bastards had looked a bit further they would've seen VG's plants!!!

Behind all that stacked up wood and mattresses is the little nursery. Through being the nice and helpful citizen who didn't put on a performance with the cops they took at face value that the four flowering plants was all there was!!!

Only dilemma was I had nowhere to grow out the survivors...

...and no equipment...

All that has changed!!!

With some borrowed lights and scrounged metal and wood I've finally built the room back up.

...finally the girls are in their beds!!!

These plants are TOUGH!!!

For the past two months they have been starved, dehydrated and deliberately pot bound to reduce growth.

They have endured extreme heat (43C...over 109F outside the shed) and excessively high nute levels. They have been crowded together and seriously mistreated while I got everything together.

Now...after a bit more bondage...they can finally enjoy the life they were meant to enjoy...

It's amazing how quickly these babies recover.

Gave the girls a bit more bondage today and removed lower branches. Any sun leaves blocking light over branches have been removed on three of them.

I left this one to show how strong they plants are. Despite the cruelty they've responded really well. The photo of the recovery is this bad girl after two days settled

Using GH MaxiGro nutes at 7g/l, which gives just on 1200ppm.

New air pump delivers 88l/m, so each pot is getting a healthy 11l/m.

Rez temps are sitting at around 27C and - so far - the girls are enjoying their new life.

Hey VG...they're still a little light green - probably through being starved!!! Would you recommend increasing ppm or just add a dash of N to darken them???

I've also topped the plants...did either parent mind a bit of topping & training?

Cheers
