Im looking to upgrade from standard euro reflector to parabolic light reflectors

parabolic light reflector spec

height = 35cm
width = 100cm
lenght = 100cm

umbrella shaped reflector with vertical fitted lamp

I currently run 2 x 600w bulbs in euro reflectors in a 2m(h) x 1.2m(l) x 2.4m tent
(xxl grow tent) and my grow style is scrog

So im looking for advise on parabolics good, bad, pros, cons, people who use this style of reflector or maybe something better

Thanks in advance for any feed back

gro-stars

gro-stars

honeslty man, the best parabolic shields i have seen are gro-stars. there is another version too but i forget the brand. the gro-star is a 1 piece which can suck, but it reflects back blue spectrum to the plants. when used with hps for veg and flower, the growth rates, light distribution, lack of hot spots etc kill any other one on the market. they can be placed so close to the canopy, and contain all the light, no leeks. super easy to set up.

ask vagpuncher if you like. he has seen hundreds in action.

here is a pic of a veg room i set up at a 420 lighter. the last pic is a 400 lighter too,

good luck on the hunt,

Offer advise to the little guys.

I currently try to place my euro reflectors as close as possible to the canopy but the close it gets the less and less light is reflected around the rest of the canopy. so thats what made me think i needed a reflector with a bigger footprint

Iv had a look at the gro-stars cant see anything better on the market for my style

Wow 400 light veg room man thats not a room thats a warehouse lol

i would never consider myself above anyone lol we are all equal to me....just so you know

i have seen these shades do awesome with 600 and 400 watt too, even though they are made for 1000, who cares.

i hope you find what you are looking for. there is a knock off brand that comes in 4 parts, that you have to assemble. pretty sure they are called super novas or something like that

canon

Went with the umbrella a few months ago. Took it out the other day.
Modding it to go vertical bulb. This will let me push it right down to the canopy nice & close. Light meter says, not much light coming off the end of it. Plus, heat rises.
So, heat rises, I cut a 6" hole near the top & installed a duct flange. That will hook right up to the blower & out.
Just part of the changes, but I'm completely sold on umbrella configurations for my application(s).
I'm just surprised nobody offers one flanged (that I know of). Works great.
Also, had to paint the inside flat white. Hi-Gloss was in it. Easy clean... but....

Did the reflector not come with the bulb hung vertical as standard? Iv not upgraded yet waiting till the end of this run so not sure if i will have heat problems as of yet (no heat problems at min). Have u or any other user's of parabolic ever had light bleeching problems this is the only issues i have with my current euro reflectors

Couldnt wait till end of this run went out today and got two parabol reflectors didnt go with the gro-stars may upgrade to them in the future ended up getting 2x sun kings for 1/4 of the price of the gro-stars. The sun kings come in 10 peaces and needs to be bolted together witch can be a bad thing but it makes it easy to move around/deliver (When fully bolted together the reflector is 1m wide). All in 1 peace now and will be fitted soon when light on.

thing with the grostars is the film on the inside. it reflects all blue light back. so when using hps in veg and bloom they are unbeatable

good luck

It was more of a money/results thing really in no way am i saying the sun king is better than the gro-star but the sun king shits on the euro style reflector that i run now. Ive just finished fitting them now and i can see the differents in light distribution theres a massive improvement. Each 1 of the 8 peaces that make up the reflector was about the same size as the reflector i was running. Loving the vertical bulb aswel. Cant wait to run it start to finish to see if there is much different in end product. I will 100% be upgrading to gro-stars in the future. thanks for the advise med maker

Search for a thread called "Has Anybody Tried The OG Vertical Reflector?" think they are both the same thing or just not aircooled.

no one on that thread posted a finished grow with them. I want to hear about some results on how they are from start to finish.
