Is it illegal to ship pollen?

Why nobody is doing so? I would love to get my premium girls some skit-skit of some famed donor. I would rather have her knocked up, than start anew with unfamiliar strain...

While sending seeds is illegal, is it illegal to sell pollen?

Technically I would imagine it is but I doubt anyone would catch on. The bigger question is would the pollen still be viable? Maybe in dry ice...

The UK law doesn't ban seeds but it bans any other part of the plant, it doesn't say "pollen" in the law but it can be assumed pollen would be illegal as part of the plant, at least in the UK.

As for the US since they can ban seeds I imagine they'd definately come down on pollen. I'm sure I saw someone who said they'd shipped pollen but it hadn't always arrived viable. Within a local area you'd probably manage it. The biggest issue would be customs seeing a concealed powder coming through :p or a sniffer dog smelling it because pollen isn't smell-free.

There's sod all THC in pollen so maybe it'd be legal depending on how your local juristiction classes cannabis.

"Any part of the plant" -> illegal
"any substance containing prohibited substances e.g. cannabinoids" -> potential loophole

Like seeds though... you only get a notice in the mail if they seize it. I would imagine it would be thought of even less dangerous than seeds.

Viability is all about drying and storage.

1. Sift out all plant matter other than pollen.

2. Lay out to dry in a container covered with a cloth for a few days.

3. Put on a tray, on top of a layer of dessicant, inside a sealable tupperware container. Leave it for a week to completely absorb all moisture.

4. Toast some flour or cornstarch on the stove in a skillet until it's browned and let it cool.

5. Mix your pollen at 1 part pollen to 50 or 100 parts flour/corn-starch.

6. Toast some rice until lightly browned and let cool.

7. Make bindles from parchment paper and put 1/4 - 1/2 tsp of powder in each one, along with a few grains of rice.

8. Seal the bindles up in individual ziplock bags and put each pollen type in a larger ziplock bag.

9. Put that larger bag into a thermos (vacuum bottle) and put it in your deep-freeze. (NOT a frost-free freezer)

Pull some out, tape it into something that won't crush it and mail it off. Should still be viable after 4-5 days. Just use it immediately after receiving.

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:

What makes the distinction between "hemp" seed and "marijuana" seed? Are they not all Cannabis Sativa L. seeds until sprouted and the thc content of individual plants are determined? Perhaps instead of stealth shipping we should be shipping them in bulk as hempseed nutritional supplements. It is a staple crop and highly nutritional after all. I will even pick out the peanuts, raisins, and M&M's. Sunflower seed kernels would be a bit of a pain to hand sort but if it helps disguise everthing and makes it more official I'm sure IC mag can come up with a diy autosifting system to separate the mix.

Let us make the pollen a "baking mix" already pre-dilluted with hempseed flour and ready to go. :D

In the US at least, hempseed products have to be rendered sterile. I've had shipments of both hempseed (shelled meats) and hempseed oil opened by customs. Like I'm gonna eat it after some filthy ICE worker has pawed through it all. On the oil, they broke the foil seal and then green-taped the cap back on. Maybe a dog hit on it or something. The company that I order from replaced both shipments immediately. Used the oil in lamps, works great.

You said "opened" and "put green tape on the lid" not seized I noticed. So the dog hit on Hempseed. Which could contain "minute" traces of thc and then they checked it out and mailed it along to the recipient. Sounds like a plan to me. Can you imagine the wasted manhours with flour under a microscope?

Maybe they could test it by chucking it over some plants? I'd love it if customs had to start their own weed grow rooms to detect pollen shipments ;-)

Found this thread: Collecting, Storing, and Mailing Pollen.

I can't be sure WHY they opened my packages, but they've only opened two out of about 40-some. Not sure, but I can't see why pollen would get nailed, other than a dog. They could identify cannabis pollen with a microscope, if you had somebody that had the skills. Most likely they'd just destroy it to be sure. Don't think it would be a problem in domestic mail, especially if you shipped it in vials and marked it as "horticultural products" or some such. Pollen gets mailed all the time, some of my beekeeper friends sell their pollen, they mail large bags of it all the time. Humidity is the real killer for pollen, so if it was sealed, it should be ok for a couple days in the mail.

i wouldnt freeze the pollen before you have it shipped, probably better just to let it dry then send it off, another question, how would they know its mmj pollen? just put a note in the envelope saying its watermelon pollen or something and they'll leave it alone

your worrying too much...

why nobody is doing so?

uhhh i doubt people will go online to brag about a successful pollen shipment, stop being an idiot

anything from pot, seeds, stems, pollen, leaves, and buds, all contain at least trace amounts of thc, and are therefore illegal in the us...not like illegal hallucinogenic mushrooms, their spore don't contain traces of the illegal substance so it's completely legal to buy spores at headshops and online anywhere in the U.S. for "microscopy study". lol

Certified sterile seeds are legal in the US, I buy 5 pounds of them at a time. I usually get the shelled meats, but you can buy them with the shells on. Just can't produce them here, mine come from Canadia.

I see, the same thing they do with bitter almonds (that cure cancers)- they radiate them so that compound is no longer present... bastards
