Chat connection problem

For a while now many of us regular chatters have been occasionally unable to load the chat room, at times when it is up and working for others.

The chat will take longer than usual to connect, never make it, and subsequent attempts to reload give this error:

picture.php

From there it seems to be a while before one stops getting this error and can load the chat room again.

Could admin look into this issue when time allows please? Thanks!

I've never had that problem, I use Firefox though not Chrome as your snap suggests

Sometimes i get the "Authentication Failed" error, but clicking on "My IC" seems to fix that so I can then get into chat normally

Have you tried another computer at another location?

If I were you, I'd check all the setting in my browser. Maybe go back to default settings or reinstall.

How many windows you have open to icmag at once?

Also try firefox. You really want Google recording everything you do on the Internet, along with your IP#?

Google = NSA/CIA/FBI now.

Are you using a proxy?

I've gotten this on different computers, different browsers, and even on a fresh OS install while on the opposite coast of the country. No proxy.

Yeah I've heard some stuff about Google and the nsa and cia and all that. The same agencies are capturing the same data right from the ISPs themselves though as we found out in the NSA/ATT ish, so for me, I just use whatever browser I think works best which is chrome. Pretty shitty justification I know but lol thats just how I see it.

I found this info on the problem, seems to be specific to chrome browser.

It seems that error 324 happens for some who also run Internet Download Manager on their system. Here is the info I found:

If you get "Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data" - open IDM and go to menu bar Downloads > Options > General and uncheck the "use advanced browser integration" checkbox.

Voila! Chrome works again. At least for me. No harm to try it and see if this solves your error 324 problem.

I don't use that download program, but the more I read about the problem, the more I agree it begins with using Chrome. Once it happens, other browsers can't seem to reestablish the connection, but yeah, fuck off Chrome hehe.

I am reading a "TLS 1.0" setting may be involved too, but adjusting the browser to use 1.1 or 1.2 breaks other sites and has to be done "under the hood" so I don't really feel like trying.

Read that cookie and cache clearing may help as well but I am pretty sure I've done those things in my own troubleshooting process.

Ahh well, thanks for pinning it down Skip.

If this is a new problem, then it might get fixed in the next chrome update.
But I have seen references to this problem for chrome users for the past year.

Sometimes I get into the chat room and everything seems normal, and then I can see the
words I am typing, but I can't see anyone else typing.

I see so many people in the chat room, I know they must be typing, but I don't see any
of their lines of text appearing.

When this happens, I just log out and log back in, and the problem is fixed.

I'm not sure if they could see what I was typing or not, but I could not see anything they
were typing. It was like I was in chat outer space, alone in a space capsule. :abduct:

:ying: kind regards from guineapig :ying:

I've been to chat with lots of ppl there, nobody doing anything...
They don't all hang there all the time, or they're in PC.

Want to bump this thread to verify that since switching to Firefox for chat, I have not once had this issue again in all this time.

Thanks for pinning that down Skip.
