My little forrest of AK-47s....hopefully :0)

Here are some Week 6 photos.

I took them with the flash, during the dark phase, and
am including close-ups that should survive resizing.

I will break this post up, to meet the image limit.

First the AKs.

It is hard to capture the degree that they
are filling out. They are not all on the very same course,
with some looking like they are going to be >3" across or
more and 18" long where a couple are still just some very
nice nugs that have not even connected up with fill in.

I wanted to capture the frostiness. It went OK.

I noticed that the AK mother had ducked a bud under the HPS
and it is doing very well:

Thanks bros.

The Somango definitely stretched out more than the AK...well, it is just
lankier in general. The AK make a MUCH better SOG breed. I expect the
Somango yields to lag behind the AK too. ...but they do look tasty don't they?

Neither of these two breeds are particularly smelly...until you bump a bud.

I have to admit that I do not have a particularly developed vocabulary when
it comes to describing things. (like smells, and degree of stretch) I will certainly
post a detail smoke report as things wrap up.

Take care,

JD

BTW

A bro on myco-tek pointed out the tip burn and slight down curl (mainly on the AK)
and suggested that this might be an Mg deficiency.

This does not seem to make sense, as I am adding Botanicaire's Cal-Mag, and have
been since feeding started.

...but then I am still learning the issues of lock out, and such.

A few aspects of the situation:

- I am only one feeding away from flushing and chopping

- I am only using 2 gallon smart pots. There is little doubt but that the roots
are running out of room in those pots.

- This was the first such signs that I have seen, I switched to "Overdrive" from
"Big Bud", and I began the addition of 1.5 Tblspns of molasses per gallon with
this last feeding.

It looks like I will be watering/feeding again today or tomorrow. I expect that
this will be followed by two plain waterings, then the chop.

I am thinking that the end of week 9 might be the chop, but will leave them
until 10 or even 11 if they show signs of needing the time.

Take care,

JD

Am I really just making it in here? Glad I didn't miss the whole show. The buds look delicious!

Hey Wildgrow,

It is very cool to have to pop in. I really enjoyed (and am still) following your
multi-strain grow thread. (the MM and SLH, tigers, and bears...Oh My! ;0)

I hope to finish this well. I will not rush things, to be certain. I am just seeing
my first issue ever. I am seeing a tiny bit of tip burn on just a few leaves on a
few plants, and some tip curling on a few plants.

I added a pretty large amount of molasses to the last feed/water. I have been
consistently using Botanicaire Pro-Blend Bloom with their Cal-Mag, Silica Blast,
and Liquid Karma added (plus a myco-additive). I also have been adding Big Bloom
to each feeding since week 3. I also switched from BB to Overdrive this last feeding,
but I am pretty sure that the molasses was the issue.

I have seen *zero* issues so far, in either grow, so I am sure that the change was a factor.

I am looking up mollasses. I added it mostly as a pro-nutrient, to feed the soil, as much
as a sweetener for the buds.

Take care,

JD

Hello all,

It has been a while since I made an update.

My ladies hit 8 weeks from the flip today.

I scoped one of the Somangos and took it at very near 100% milky.
I expect that it will be one trippy smoke. :0) I intend to harvest
the six Somangos at a range of end-states.

attachment.php

I also took an early AK taster bud from the AK mother...well, it was
really a low branch that I took only because it was blocking light to
the SOG.

attachment.php

I also took a nice shot of the tangerine hairs on one of my AK budsicles:
attachment.php

Sorry, but I have no new full-tent photos, but it looks about the
same....just a bit taller but more crusty. ;0)

I am really going to try to take photos during the harvest, but
this will likely be a stressful time for me if only for the smell that
disturbing my babies makes. It is amazing. ...a smellsplosion.

Take care,

JD

Looks killer, JavaD!

Just a lower branch? Damn I haven't even gotten a top that big. Impressive.

J

Javadog

I really appreciate the good word.

Yes, it was a lower branch....I have the two mothers (Somango
and AK-47) in two of the corners, standing over their 32 clone SOG.

I have two Kessil 350s (one purple, the other magenta) that I set
to point at the mothers, one each.

....but this branch shot down, and then back up, to duck under and
catch the light from the HPS.

This is kinda turning into a public service message in support of more
Veg time. :0) Seriously, I am seeing where the AK mother is prepared
to turn every branch into a budsicle. This is a very successful breed.

As to Somango, such crustiness. I am sure that it will be epic smoke.
...but it does not have the same growth characteristics of the AK. Now,
one of my Somangos is almost a budsicle. It is beautiful, and will be
photod extensively before it is chopped.

Thank you very much for stopping in!

JD

P.S. I just took this, in the dark, photo of the lower part of the
AK Mother. It really has been pushed to the side, but you can
see that even down low (the top is incredible) it is making some
strong buds:
attachment.php

The taster bud was taken from about the "7 O'clock position". Note also that
the Kessil is up and to the right. (note the stronger growth on that side)

Hello all,

We are a day away from the end of Week 9 from flip and I wanted to post an update.

I just checked a bud leaf from the main cola of the Somango mother, and
for the first time I am seeing amber trichs. So far, while I had watched as
the majority clear trichs had changed to a majority of cloudy trichs, I had
not seen many amber trichs at all. (a small handful through all of my
check so far).

I am 30 minutes past lights on, so I will not be taking anything this moment,
but I think that I will take the main colas on the two mothers tomorrow
morning, before lights on.

All of my tests of the plants in the SOG seem to be suggesting that the
full 10 weeks might be required for the rest of the tent.

I did water with plain water, yesterday, and will only use plain water
for the remainder of this Crop.

Some Photos....

The entire Tent, at the end of day 61:

I took two shots of a lovely AK-47 budsicle in the back of the tent:

Update Continued...

It is hard to see just how perfect this budsicle is.....it is like 18" of bud!
attachment.php

The Somango SOG element that is closest to a budsicle (referred to previously)
is still doing amazing...though the HPS lights kill the image:
attachment.php

I will try to weigh my yield, even if small and personal, to help
others judge the effort.

....but I am already nibbling a somango taken last week. Yummy!

Take care,

JD
