Hey everyone as we all know Google is the devil and mines all personal data possible.

I'm sure everyone can agree that you find yourself still using Google from time to time. I started using bing, ( is there any truth that it stands for "because it's not google"?) and noticed at the top of my screen there was a little message saying "By using this site you agree to the use of cookies for analytics, personalized content and ads."

so does this mean bing is data mining too?

what search engine do you guys use?

Especially if you are trying to search something that you wouldn't want people to know you were searching? For example, grow techniques and equipment.

Thanks everyone, stay safe!

I don't worry about it. I don't even have an anti-virus or firewall.
Never had any problems yet.
If there is someone out there logging all the sites I go to then all I can say is get a life you loser. You aint going to gain nothing by minding my business for me.

Course though, I'm not going to come on here and start bragging about a thousand plant grow, but maybe I should, send leo on a wild goose chase.

Hello, Soursmoker.
Afaik it is the new legal requirement to inform web users about the cookie policy.
Cookies are not bad in general, ICM uses them too. Notice the message when you log out from this site.

It does matter however what YOU do with these cookies. It is adviced to clear cookies, browsing history, passwords etc. I do it after every browser use, you can activate this function in the browser options.

Stay safe my friend :)

I am not really worried more just curious... thanks tho

N. Lumberjack,

thank you that makes much more sense now, I know all websites use cookies, I guess that message just sounded a little more invasive than it is supposed to.

stay safe as well

Run CCleaner after every internet session, get rid of cookies and other stuff; surprising how many cookies, sometimes 150 or more.

CCleaner is awesome! Also I would suggest using a VPN so that your ISP doesn't spy on everything yo do. Private Internet Access does not log any of your info. So if they got served with a court order there would be nothing to find.:)

If you turn on Private Browsing in Safari, or use an Incognito window in Chrome, then cookies are not saved and sites you visit are not saved in your browser's history. I don't know what options are available to Windows users, but surely IE has a similar private browsing capability by now. However, this only affects your computer. Sites you visit still know who you are and can collect data on you.
