What nutes?

Hey all, going to be starting my first grow here in a couple weeks and I'm really pumped. Picked up some AK47 x Grand Daddy Purp seeds and will be running them in a coco/soil mix (the idea was for the drainage qualities of coco and the buffering effects of soil... good qualities for my first run). Anyways, I'm looking for some opinions on what nutrients to run, looking to keep it simple and just run the veg and bloom products from 1 company. Anybody have any suggestions to an easy to use, moderately priced line?

I jus switched to MILLS 5 bottles total
But u only use 3 at a time I'm super impressed so far
About a week away from flip.
The only problem is its about 280 for the line in liter size bottles.

The base is super cheap at 20 bucks a bottle
It's the 3 additives that are spendy but u only use 2 to 4 Mil. a gal
So I guess it's worth it we will see in 9 weeks

I was running roots soul syn. And was super happy u can check my pix in my albums it's makes ur mugs super frosty, just did not like the application rate of the big swell for he price is nutty but damned if the shit don't work... Just switched cause for one it was free and I really like only using the 3 bottles at a time... But have one girl I'm Gona use the veg+bloom on and see how it works in my garden...
Good luck finding your new juice... Just keep in mind it may take a few runs to get ur regimen dialed in...

So I've been doing quite a bit of reading and I'm leaning towards the Earth Juice line of nutrients, I like the idea of keeping chemicals out of the equation, especially since I will hopefully have my caregiver license this summer. Any experience with them?

GH offers variety and affordability. While they have an organic line, I like "synthetic/soluble" nutes. I using their 3 part at recommended dosage for DTW (I'm in 100%coco) and add 1/2 teaspoon/gal of calimag, 1ml/gal of their rapidstart, 1ml/gal of floralisiuos+, and Koolbloom in flw at 1/2 teaspoon/gal. with awesome results. It's solid.

Remember, don't think of nutes as plant food. Nutes aren't responsible for plant mass. All plant mass is from inorganic carbon (CO2). There are growth regulators like gibberellic acid that enhances, but the mass is created from CO2. Point is, nutes can be overhyped, and over priced.

Thanks for the advice medicalmj. I took a look at their website and checked HTG for the pricing, seems pretty legit. The only thing that got the EJ product in my mind was this post over on 420, the guy ran 8 different nute lines in a controlled grow and only Advanced Sensi outperformed EJ. Google "a top nutrient study" if you're interested, its a good read.

So I have to say I'm a little jealous that you have the coco / DTW setup going on, I'm moving to a new place and will have to hand water for this run to buy me the time to build a flood table or DTW system. How long have you been running that setup for? You see any big differences in growth with that as opposed to traditional hand feeding?

The biggest advantage to auto DTW over hand water is that I don't have to crawl to the back of my room once they get big and it's easy to do multiple per day, which ensures they won't dry out. I suppose their might be a slight growth advantage but nothing that compares to adding CO2.

However, I am still hand watering my veg plants right now mostly because it's not a big deal. I think I've tried everything imaginable (RWDC, rockwool cubes (E&F), cubes on slab(top feed), aeroponics, buckets inserted with misters, and plain old plastic containers w sunshine mix, (except no 100% orgo soil) and this is the best to date. I just transplanted two plants that had a 28" x 32" flat canopy EACH from 5liter (1.25 gal) airpots into 20liter pots. And there was no need to unwind or cut at the the roots. They'll each have a flat canopy of about 4'x3' when I flower em. This is my second run w coco. My first true DTW coco-airpots will done in 3 wks. The last run was just some testing of coco. I love it!
I built my own rolling table with the scrog netting attached. I'll be sure to throw up pics once the plants are out of the way.

Oh yeah, I have a hard time believing any hype on over priced nutes. Just get some gibberillic acid and anything will work as long as it is has a complete nute profile. Also, all plant mass is from inorganic carbon, i.e CO2, not "plant food"!

I love the roll around setup you have there man, I'm also going to be running a scrog setup. The rough plan is to do 3x3 screen with 4 plants under 600 watts. Going to veg them 8 weeks and really build a full canopy as I'm trying to keep my plant count down until the med paperwork goes through. You have a grow journal kicking around on here?

Sorry no journal. I'll explain in detail and try to get better pics of how the scrog is attached, just shoot me a message when ur ready.

And about the nutes, gibberillic acid can decrease flower size if used to close to flower, should be used early on. It also elongates stems. IAA hormone is shown to increase pistilates when given 400mg foliar spray for 2 wks before flower. I suspect many of these expensive nutes which require several additives at diff times contain. So follow directions closely.

I've been enjoying the Botanicare PBP line. Seems to work great for me and is affordable for my small tent setup.

Any good inorganic line will work great too...

Not for a newbie grower. If he uses all Organics he wont need to bother with EC/pH Readings. To many additives to mix up in a chem nutrient.. Just water and watch them grow with Organics. Plus all of the health benefits from growing Organic. Theres no comparison really.

Good luck

Advanced has a very cheap (inexpensive) base jungle juice they have a ph perfect version too super cheap if u use the Lucas formula
And add a hydroplex and your golden for under 60 for liter bottles of them all thee micro bloom and grow and hydroplex..
I had very good results growing in ffof and just the micro bloom and hydroplex.. No ph meter ec meter nothin just used RO h2o..

He won't need to check ph or ec using pbp in coco?

Too many bottles? You can pick as few or many as you like.

Organic is healthier? Too vague. Plants use inorganic compounds so nutritional uptake should be equal. I would agree on org vs non-organic pesticide use, sure.

The extra buffer of organic vs chem is a big factor of why I'm running it. Also as I am applying for the caregiver card I feel that I owe it to the patients to offer them a chem free, healthy medicine. If they wanted chems they'd just be taking the normal big pharma drugs right?
