wondering if there are any ferret owners in here? my fiance and i adopted a 10mo female blaze ferret about 1 month ago. she has the pimp condo critter nation 182 double cage mansion (its HUGE), as well as the RUN of the living room and dining room, and has been "ferret proofed". i taped up carboard "walls" where i dont want her to do (behind my theatre center, under couch, ect). she is a handful, and we will be adopting another one in a week or so so she will have a buddy to keep her company.

and contrary to popular belief they DO NOT overly smell, and you CANT BE ALLERGIC to ferrets (its a myth). i hate when ppl get rid of ferts saying their allergic, it deserves a huge bitch-slap. they just didnt know what kind of resposnibility a fert is, and they do require a special owners. we take our fert on walks at the park (always leashed), and take her to a ferret rescue shelter for some play time w/other ferts. they also adopt ferts there as well. its a great place (motor city ferrets).

heres a couple pics. her name is bella, and she is going to be my new grow guard fert. im not sure how she will like walking around my grow, but ill find out. even tho im still 1+mo out from turning on the lights.

the 2nd pic is the old cage.

I had two ferrets and they were a wicked riot. We called em peanut and pea brain. They'd get all excited and arch their backs make the cutes clucking noise I loved em. But they were smelly no doubt.

yup, its called their "war dance" and the noise they make is called a dook. lol mine will do rolls, flips, trip over her feet, ect. its funny as hell, esp while medicating. she has her favorite toys (about 10) and hides them under a chair. i dig them out, she nips my toes then puts them back in their safe place. lol only for me to remove them again. its a love/hate why are you messing with my toys game. lol the more you bathe them, the more they excrete their mushy oils. we wash...well I wash her cage bedding 1x a week, and do litter pan clean outs 2x a day. No smell in my house. they also make some foo foo spray to spray on ferts. kinda like fur smell good. lol now she smells like a french whore.

heres a few more pics

also, heres a HUGE and very important info, there is a MAJOR ferret/cat food recall (8 brands) have been recalled due to semenolla(sp) outbreak. please do a google search for your brand of food and the recall.
thank you

buddymate, i seen a youtube vid in Scottland (or simular county), this guy was hunting a rabbitt colony with ferts. he would put a catch net covering the rabbit hole, then put the ferts in the holesto flush out the rabbits. awesome stuff. he had microchips ora radio beacon coolo on them to find them if they got lost or stuck or injured. i wish mine hunted like that. bella nibbles on toes and not sure aboutTara yet. hoping se can teach Bella some calmer ways of ife. lol
any tips or pointers for the ferts?

well, we just adopted another one just an hour ago. A young lady had a female and was called back to duty in the Navy. she gave her to petco. we think she is between 1-2 yrs old, the only paperwork the lady gave the pet store was a name (Tara) and approx age. and of course she is a Marshall farms fert as is most of the ferts in the US. friday Bella and Tara go t the vet. Bella for her nail trimmed, Tara for a rabies and canine distemperment shots (since i have no med records), vet check up and nails cut. i guess finishing my grow room is on hold for another week. lol oh well, now Bella has a playmate to hang with.

ferrets are illegal here in cali along with hedgehogs and a number of other cool pets, never understood why, but you always see ferret food in the stores even though there illegal to have.

dad always had ferrets for rabbiting, caught hundreds of rabbits ,those days they were in plague proportions, fucken ferret would catch and kill a rabbit down burrow and go to sleep lol, have to try and smoke ferret out ,or dig, IF that failed , block a million holes up and come back next day, many a time we have just arrived the next day and ferret was just getting free of blocked hole. he had a pair once that got some disease and went bald as,lol i remember seeing a tatts ticket on top of fridge called the Nude ferret. THEY WERE FED BREAD AND MILK most of time and rabbit. lol they were not pets, just workers, got a lot of respect for a hard working ferret, kept our bellies full in hard times. lol got bit hard a bloody lot a times, lot a peeps in oz keep em for pets now, if you get hungry these days theres more politicions about to barbecue, fuk think ill go have a feed of rabbit stew.

the balding is adrenal disease, or inslunoma. protien and fat is all a fert needs. im tryin to gt them to eat raw (pinky mice, small furry mice, chicken, beef, organs, deer). they natural meat eaters. NO grains, fruits or veggis period. they cant digest those types of foods.

Many years ago, I dated a woman who had 4-5 at any given time. They pretty much had the run of her condo, and shit in every corner. When I would spend the weekend, I would first take a bath, and a couple would join me. Great fun.

Many years later I started a company that sells natural remedies for animals. Our flagship product is Pet Flora. It is an amazing combination of soil-based-probiotic organisms that should be awesome for ferrets loose stools. Now, it may not make them 'firm' (but it may) as they have such high metabolism, but it would still be great for their overall health. If you try it, give it like 3 months and report back to the company. It is human grade. Been taking it for years

ferrets are wonderful pets. very affectionate little things w/ great personalities

although alot of people arent aware that they rarely live more than 8 years, 10 if your lucky

they die from cancer 99% of the time. its a genetic trait that i guess they cant really breed out

i had one when i was younger and it was so hard when we lost her that we never got another one

love the little furballs as much as you can, while you can (dont mean to be a downer)

adrenal disease and inslunoma are the 2 main causes of ferret deaths. othr than poor feeding habit by their owners. we are switching ours fom the crappy marshalls premium fert food, to zupreem and a raw food diet (pinkys (newborn mice, fuzzies, burger, steak, chicken, chicks, duck, any meats high in protien and fat.

2 is our limit. i don want a damn zoo. lol and 2 is gonna be a handfull. this weeken its a trip to the park and lt them play a bit (on a leash of course). im gonna plant a few fuzzies for them to find ad eat as treats.

heading to the park today for some fun in the sun. and both my ferts LOVE my pineapple express bud. i pulled out a nice 1/4oz bud for them to sniff. the one tried to eat it. lol little faker. so i let them play with the glass jar full of buds. they wre busy for about an hr trying to figure out how to get the tasty morsel out. then gave up as they were in a loosing battle.
