Making hash from sativas and at higher latitude

How good are sativas for sieving hash? Are higher latitudes with less sunlight that much worse for trichome and resin output?

hey dude, hows it going?
shouldnt have any problems sifting sativa's, its down to how you like your smoke and high. just worry about flower quality.
higher altitudes tend to be better for resin production and quality as a rule of thumb due to the fact plants push out resin to protect themselves from the uv/b rays which are stronger at higher alitutudes.
enjoy by the sounds of it.. your in for some killer hashish :)

I meant latitude as in a colder, temperate climate. I was looking at some of the articles about hash making in Morocco. I wonder if the Moroccan climate simply did produce better hashish with some finer qualities than either indoor or outdoor in some climates here. Can you find the Moroccan strains that they use? They looked like they had connoisseur qualities to them. I couldn't decide whether the nomenclature of indica and sativa could tell me whether it was the size and morphology of the plant I was looking for. I didn't want a plant that was too branchy, as many indicas with that typical bush shape were. Perhaps an indica that was shorther than most sativas, but less bushy, with one main stem and cola, also with connoisseur, mellow colors and aromas.

Steve,

I must be dyslexic I thought I read altitudes at first as well :D

Sativas do not like cold and at high latitudes they don't get the light necessary nor do they have the time to finish flowering before the cold weather has come...

depending on how high of a latitude... you may be forced to grow Indica dominant or pure Indica strains or at extreme latitudes you may need to grow auto flowering varieties.

so depending on just how high you are ;) I would recommend ACE seeds ErdPurt it is built for high latitude growing with beautiful colors, aromas and flavors while withstanding cold humid conditions without molding... if you are too high you may need an auto flower for which I have no recommendation

Peace,

The danish and finnish grow some good sats and sat doms and they're at 55-65 °N. They also often make dry sift with their harvests because the strains that they grow usually have buds that are loosely packed and ideal for making hash. Some of the sativa dom strains that they grow are Royal Dane, Thyphoon, Pehkuruder and Northern Sun.

Also there is a strain called Nepal, which is supposedly 100% sativa that also grows without problems in scandinavia at least up to 61 degrees latitude!

By Nepal, I think that Halonium meant Oldfarmer Nepal. It's a reliable and hardy strain but it's not very potent so it's best for hash making.

Steve, from what you wrote, it's unclear as to whether you want to grow sativas or indicas. If you want a good hash making strain for northern climates, try Arne's Hashplant of Hashplant 2 from Hybrids From Hell. If you want to use Morrocan genetics then you can try Maroc and Purple Maroc from Female Seeds.

I dont mean Oldfarmer's Nepal, but Nepal by Tanska. I have understood it is a different strain. Oldfarmers Nepal is supposedly weaker in strength and slower to mature...

high bro!

as long as it produces resin you can sieve it, BUT watch out with concentrated sativas... it might be too much for some (paranoia, visuals, ...) it's not like with indicas where you fall asleep or eat till you pass out...
