Has Cannabis Been Secretly Genetically Modified to Render it More Dangerous?

FTA: "Cannabis...blah, blah, blah...yet it's also probably the most illegally consumed drug of abuse."

What? What does that even mean? "Most illegally consumed drug?" Is that by volume? By weight? Either way, I'm pretty sure the alcohol consumed by under-age drinkers FAR outstrips cannabis as the "most illegally consumed drug." Whatever the hell you actually mean by that awkward phrase, drunk teens for the win.

The writer and the editor both get a 10 from the French judge.

btw the thread title implies that cannabis is somehow dangerous to begin with just by using the word 'more'.

A French doctor have made a study saying the anxiety, paranoia and schizophrenia that some people experienced using cannabis only occur on people that have social problems and that aren't too happy in their life. He pointed out the fact that cannabis could be used to detect people with depression symptoms and help them before it gets too serious.

Did huff'po ever miss the boat on this story; hell over a year ago this is what the Italian group had to say on the matter....

Investigations into the hypothesis of transgenic cannabis.

Abstract
The unusual concentration of cannabinoids recently found in marijuana samples submitted to the forensic laboratory for chemical analysis prompted an investigation into whether genetic modifications have been made to the DNA of Cannabis sativa L. to increase its potency. Traditional methods for the detection of genetically modified organisms (GMO) were used to analyze herbal cannabis preparations. Our analyses support the hypothesis that marijuana samples submitted to forensic laboratories and characterized by an abnormal level of Δ(9)-THC are the product of breeding selection rather than of transgenic modifications. Further, this research has shown a risk of false positive results associated with the poor quality of the seized samples and probably due to the contamination by other transgenic vegetable products. On the other hand, based on these data, a conclusive distinction between the hypothesis of GMO plant contamination and the other of genetic modification of cannabis cannot be made requiring further studies on comparative chemical and genetic analyses to find out an explanation for the recently detected increased potency of cannabis.

Thread over?

this is what organizations like norlm should do, sue people spreading misinformation. it's a social problem and there is a legal basis to lay charges on them for doing this.

Any questions?

It's interesting to watch propaganda/misinformation being formulated into conspiracy theory.
But the previous comment about Monsanto and government makes this a possible reality, GM corn in america had to be taken of the shelves as it was Causing cancer. Because cannabis is not legal, anything can be tainted just like any drug, and to say "it cant/wont happen is bullshit, I wonder does anyone remember the 'Paraquat-pot' incidence in us in the 70's?? ok it's a bit different but shows that gov/security etc. will do as they please. They would turn everything to their own 'shit'.

GM corn has never been pulled from American shelves for causing cancer.

There was a crop yanked for causing Godzilla once. Maybe that's what you were thinking of?

You guys didn't know that G13 was genetically modified to reduce sperm count?

LOL

Seriously though don't genetically modify the herb please.
