Cali Orange - Seedlines

I was reading about this plant a while ago, the citrus taste must be a nice addition for some crosses, so here comes the questions.
Which current Cali Orange seedline will you recommend?.
I am aware off Calizarh, but I am looking for a more accessible strain.
An remember: seedline, not a clone only.
I'll be waiting your responses with patience.

2 Words, Agent Orange. :)

I grew 5 plants, 4 females, 1 male. 3 females and 1 male had predominantly orange smells.

1 female had a mild lemon smell & 1 was a more mandarine, sweet smell. The other 2 were slightly bitter regular orange peel smell. I preferred those.

All 4 were very generously coated in frost.

The pheno of super lemon haze i had smelled exactly like lemons- i mean exactly. Tangerine dream smelled like tangerines, but that was the ONLY good thing about it, that strain sucks balls big time!!!!!! I also had a black domina that smelled exactly like orange rinds, and it tasted that way too. I had almost forgot about the black domina, if you want a strain that is citris pick it up. Now i don't know if it will be the same as mine was, my bd was a 20 yr old clone from old sensi stock, but it was good enough for me to want it again someday.

I was thinking in a more "undiluted" California Orange. C-Plus is out off the budget and Agent Orange is quite interesting on itself, but the parentals are too "random" for my taste, plus is much more expensive that C-Plus.
Chimera really is taking care off that 25 years mother of California Orange. Nevertheless, there is no more seedlines that sought to represent this venerable strain?. The dutch strains are out off the question?.
Remember: seedline, regular and cheap.

Have a look at Dr. Penthotal's (Catnip seeds) Orange Grapefruit projects.

Dutch Passion has Cali Orange.
I grew it out several years ago.
All the finished females smelled and tasted strongly like orange, sort of like "Tang".
Potency was medium. Very clean, clear high.
I made seeds and have grown it out several times. It is an IBL. Each generation pretty much like the last.
Crossed it with AK47, and the cross smelled like orange and tasted like Orange Julius. It boosted potency way up. Very close to the AK47. The high was more euphoric than clean and clear. More like AK47.
I think a "Sour" orange cross might prove very interesting.

Good find!. Any info on Californian Orange from Homegrown Fantaseeds?. They are reliable? Potency, flavour, ease of grow?.
This is a good candidate indeed.

can't give you any hard info on this one, i have grown out nirvana's cali-o which is unfortunately discontinued
fanta seems to have a fair to good rep, been in the biz quite a while
this is one of those 'IBLs' that seemed to have plenty of variety, the old sativa dominant sounded excellent
the latter offering from nirvana(which is what i got) was much more indica
i found it pretty good in its own right

I've grown Cali-O for years and it is still a big fav. I will never stop growing this strain, its easy to grow, it loves soil and guano, in coco it loses some taste. Its a nute hog up to 1200 ppm's. It's very tasty, very thrichy, sticky, big round beautiful flowers, great bag appeal, very fruity aroma and it is potent, euphoric feel, body and head. 8 to 9 weeks, usually somewhere between, good yield.

Was just thinking about orange strains and discussing them with friends here in Hawaii. We all decided we gotta get us some orange:)

Be careful and don't get Cali Orange BUD, its not even close the same and not as good either. They are tall and lanky with small buds that's kinda OK not for me.

But the Cali-Orange tend to grow tall, but it is a hardy beautiful plant, fat dense round stacked crystal buds, baseball bats. I start with big plants, 3, 4 ft tall. Begin easy on the nutes, start weak like 300-400ppms, don't crest 550 ppms during week 2 but by the end of 3 weeks should be around 700- 750 ppms , by the end of 4 you should be at a 1000 ppm's, gradually increase to 1100's - 1200 ppms during weeks 6 and 7. They love carb's. My carbo load is a secret so I don't say what I do but they love carbs. Make sure you lolly pop them too.

I'm soil, 3.5 gal air pots, organic, botanicare nutes mostly.

You know I was looking to Dutch Passion catalogue, but they discontinued they regular line of California Orange, they sell it now only feminized. Still, Orange Bud is available in standard form, but I am not sure if any "California Orange" is in it, according to Se#dFind#r is just a selection of Skunk. So, any comments will be appreciated.
Surfing trough our dutch connexion, I find these two: Cali Orange Bud - White Label and Dutchmens Royal Orange - Flying Dutchmen.

To summarize:
C-Plus - Chimera Seeds (expensive, crossed)
Agent Orange - TGA Subcool Seeds (expensive, to much genetic array in parentals)
Calizahr - Chimera Seeds (expensive, crossed, unavailable)
California Orange Bud - Nirvana (unavailable, discontinued)
Californian Orange - Homegrown Fantaseeds (good candidate)
Californian Orange - Dutch Passion (feminized only :frown:)
Orange Bud - Dutch Passion (?)
Dutchmens Royal Orange - Flying Dutchmen (?)
Cali Orange Bud - White Label (?)

Thanks all for your kindly contributions.

Hi Apodo,

I understand your reluctantness to getting TGA's Agent Orange due to their Polyhybrid tendancies, but if you are primarily looking at Caliofrnia Orange for the pronounced orange smell and flavour, i think Agent Orange is a no brainer.

Also, i haven't tried any of Dr. Penthotals Orange crosses, but if you look at his threads, he has done a lot of selecting over a period of time to find the most Orangey and Grapefruity plants he can find.

I think they are probably much better than most of the other companies you listed....

but, it's your choice. :)

Take care.

Tnx blue green!
It's nice to be in your mind when thinking orange.... I appreciate!

let me chime in...
I've been working extensively with this orange flavour.
During my search to the perfect grapefruit nycd I happened to meet the agent orange.
It is true, it's a ployhibrid, but if you look for orange taste go for it!
you won't be disappointed.
After being amazed with ao I kept on seaching, but I didn't find anything even comparable.
I did dp orange bud that were only mutants, same as dutchman royal orange. total crap.
don't even think about femm dp califionia orange. maybe they used to be good, but not worth nowadays.
Calizahr should be nice, when available.
cplus is really nice and quite orange, but the phenos I had were blueberry dominant. tasty, greasy, but not enough orange in them. also I think I read somewhere that Chimera lost his calio clone.
I found more orange in california indica from sensi, but it was circa 1999...

Among my ao plants I happened to find a special special male.
I tested this one extensively with different mothers.
In all the crosses orange dominates or blend in the original mother's taste.
Sum incredible gems I found in these crossing and I'm still working with them.
The overall results of different people and setup are really consistant and above the medium level.
Sum people totally drove crazy and addicted to citrous orange tastes (me at first?!?)

Expect also potency in those. Cali o is know not to give a super punch, more relaxed and mellow, but the jack the ripper genes put it in a different planet.
I'm quite confident in suggesting my seeds for orange. :)
Take a look at my thread to read the whole story.
there are sum new crosses to be about to drop...
If you have any questions or doubts, feel free to speak.
take care

dr.P

i think you must have been unlucky with your pheno's of C-Plus then dr because i grew out 3 C-Plus and 2 of them were very Cali O dominant with the uplifting high and taste and smell i remember from back in the day from the Cali O where as the AO was more fruity than orange and never reminded me of the Cali O in the high at all ,maybe i was unlucky with the phenos i got of them .
i'm not even sure there is any Cali O in the Agent Orange to be honest ,the C-Plus may not be the most potent but its a really uplifting high just like the Cali O i remember and has the double serrations on the leaves just like the original but each to there own :ying:

Grew orange bud from dutch passion. Did well outdoors. Smelled like oranges & got me wanting to grow agent orange.

Re: Cali Orange - Seedlines

If you can get Dr p's seeds, I highly recommend them. I've grown nycd/ghaze x ao, it was awesome. Great germs and I haven't seen a male yet. I'm running his sour d x ao now. Loving the smells, growth, stretch, and ease indoor.
