Cloning: Coco in netpots

I am considering using my homemade aero cloner to clone using coco in the netpots instead of sprayers. Instead of using the netpots with collars to hold up the cuts for the sprayer, I am thinking about just filling the net pots with coco. Doing this will allow me to keep the coco warm without using a heat mat. (I use an aquarium heater in the cloner already with an airstone). This will keep a nice high humidity of warm weather in the atmosphere around the outside of the netcups. Has anyone tried this?

I have a nice 32 site aero cloner that I made and it works great. 100% roots ready to plant in 14days or less.. in nothing but tap water. However, now that I've growing in coco instead of RDWC there seems to be a decent amount of lag time when I pot out of the cloner into coco. I am trying to eliminate this stress/time by cloning straight in coco.

I am just wondering if anyone else has tried this, or else any potential issues that may pop up or be a problem that I may be overlooking.

Thanks for your time

Thanks for your info. So you leave the net pot when you transplant? Do you cut it out of the roots after harvest?

As for the cloning, what do you put the net pot in while you're waiting for roots? Any problems you foresee by my described method above?

i root all my clones in rapid rooter plugs and 7-10 days roots are exploding out the plug then i plant in a netpot using 100% coco.

i find that growing in net pots the coco dries faster so more feed/water but when i transplant i leave the netpot in place and after harvest i let the medium dry and the rootmass removal is easier and the netpot can easily be cleaned.

i set the net pot in a catchment tray and top feed dtw and let residual h2o soak back up or evaporate. i try an limit run off though so my RH desnt go too high.

i dont forsee any issues but ask those who grow in coco hempy style since there is a rez at the bottom of the container but when in doubt try it on 1 or 2 and post your results........im sure others will find the results helpful.

so you've not actually cloned in coco then I guess.

You're right though, I should just try and see, then post results

no..........i have almost 100% success using the rapid rooter plugs so i havent tried cloning in coco but i see many here that do with great results.

my rapid rooter plugs sit in h2o whle im waiting for roots so it stays wet and if the coco stays moist to wet around the clone then roots should form.

good luck
