Zamaldelica grow outdoors, 44* N

Hello all :tiphat:

I'll use this thread as a grow diary of the Zamaldelica I'll be growing this season. I'm looking for a strong trippy high with as little body as possible, and by all accounts Zamaldelica sounds like a very interesing option.
I'm growing outdoors in a backyard, at 44 degrees north, continental climate with dry and hot summer and usually dry autumn. Sativas work best at my place because strains that start flowering early (indicas) get massively pollinated by the local wild weed. Last year's Haze that I grew was the first completely non-pollinated plant that I've ever had, thanks to starting budding in the middle of September. I hope the Zamaldelica won't start flowering in August.
I started 6 non-feminized seeds (Zamal x Golden Tiger) on the 11th of March, planted directly into peat without pre-soaking and towels. 3 of them popped out of the ground after 3 days, the rest followed within 3 days. They will be raised under 100W white LED light. I'll keep them in cups until they show sex and will choose only one female to transplant outdoors in the end of April, the rest will be given to friends.

Here's the start:

nice project,

i'm curious to see how zamaldelica run at 44N.
what is the last date to harvest in your area?

best luck.

Thanks, people :)

pastor, I'm not sure there's a certain deadline for harvest, weather is different each year, and each plant handles bad weather differently, so saying a certain date is pointless. But let's say that generally we enjoy good sunny weather and I'm more afraid of caterpillars during flowering than of mold and rot.

Right on yoss !
I'm in the front row, ready for the show.
Are you gonna add something to the soil to make it fluffy or plant straight in local soil ?
If all goes well, I might try a long flowering sat next year.
Good luck with your tree !
Peace, HJ.

Hi, Husky, and thanks for the wish, I'm hoping for a tree indeed :) Everybody mentions Zamaldelica's vigour.
Still haven't decided on whether to amend the soil. I think it has perfect structure, I can easily dig the ground with my hand, so I won't add perlite/peat/etc. It still seems rich in nutrients, after only 2 years of growing tomatoes and cannabis. It's something like 25-30% humus (worm castings).

Hey, EverLast! :) Let's see what our black soil will do to the african genes.

Hey yoss, are you talking about "Černozjom" notorious soil from Ukraine? I would like to test that soil one day..looking forward to see your results ;)

Nice to see how they perform.
Shouldn't be too hard, I think Zamaldelicas can take most of the summer and perform well.
Nice sunny place and it should be fine.

Greetings, people :)

Just a quick weekly update:
All 6 are doing fine, no runts visible so far. The environment might not be perfect - the fan cooling the LED light is blowing warm air downwards onto the plants and makes the air a bit too dry, but the plants better get used to hot and dry climate.

The most vigorous of the plants is also nicely trichy:

Sign me up for wanting updates to this thread. It looks to me like you did a great job with the Haze. Can't wait to see the progress on the Zamaldelica as this is one of the strains that I am most interested in.

All the Best to you.

I've realized today that I will be able to grow some sativas outdoor this summer (at 35o USA). Have been wanting to try some Ace in the worst way, where can we order Ace that ships to USA? I think I might be brave enough to go for the Zamal, though the Panama sounds like a dream about heaven.

Thanks for the wishes, people!
The quick weekly update:

All 6 plants are looking fine, I didn't expect so broad leaves actually. 3 of them definitely posses hybrid vigour, their 1 set of leaves are maybe the biggest I've seen and I guess they'll make huge leaves outdoors. The other 3 are smaller and delicate.
All of them have similar great smell of rubbed stems: a mix of very fresh citric fruit peels - grapefruit, mandarine, orange. Can't wait to have more stem and leaf surface to rub, the smells are delicious :)

Here's the most "sativa" looking of the 3 vigorous plants. I like plants that after the first leaf set go directly to 5 and then 7 leaf blades. It also has these lovely small blades with no serration.
