Where are the afghan war hash plants?

I remember a decade ago the dutch and BC indica scene was at its climax, and there were indicas everywhere. Lots of indica strains. I used to always curse the lack of interesting sativa offerings out there. They were all crossed of a skunk or a haze and called a sativa, but there were tons of indica offerings.

Now I look around the SB offerings and I see several new companies using fresh sativa genetics. ace, mandala, etc. That is great but what I find interesting is the stagnation of indica offerings. I see the same old strains from a decade ago which were becoming old and inbred then.

The interesting thing is that we have been at war with the middle east for a decade as well and I see lots of videos of soldiers walking through massive fields of hash plants in afghanistan. It seems like we would be flush with exciting new hash plants from different regions of the country but I haven't seen any seed banks offering hybrids from new stock from the regions of origin.

I've heard rumors about the potency of "red lebanese" but I haven't seen any red leb hashplant seeds around. Why aren't more people trying to get these type of strains? I don't understand.

Ive wondered myself as I love the Ghanis an Hashplant Types .These are strains which have always intrigued me aswell as sit High on my list of somthin id love in my jar .

The Hashplants/Affies Nowadays commonly available for Seed purchase are Old an Not what they use to be actually the selection is Kinda Small an Bad quality

Yes times change an we know things were alot loose back than an much easier in many perspectives all around . Such as for bringing back a sock full of seed i cant see it that difficult . But still you see that pic in this thread(Ive seen many others aswell as hightimes photo) of the soilders smiling an we knwo ther must be a Good percent of cannabis lovers / Smokers in the military ,Soo i scratch my head .

It doesnt surpise me that seedbanks wouldnt have somthing by Now but im more surprised that more Members/posters of the community wouldnt have Gifts from friends l. The only i can Recall in my time is MC - TOK and BH - Purple Afghani


Hopfully a solider reads this thread an gets motivated an can help make a change .

It just surprises me that none of them send it back knowing how valuable it is. Like a collection of short squat true afghani hash plants would sell for $50 per 20 seeds. You could just mail them into a seed bank some where.

if the back story on it is true?
i dont think its around in its pure form from what is said on the boards.
but it has begot alien kush and all the alienkush crosses. so wouldnt that be atleast 1 exmaple of fresh afgan hash lines in the gene pool?
and im sure theres some more we just dont no about.

You bring up a good point, Mota. A lot of indica-leaning hybrids being offered, but those pure indicas do seem to be harder to find. I guess I spend so much time looking at sativas that I didn't even notice. When I think of those, Tom Hill automatically comes to mind with x18, Deep Chunk, and PTK. Not sure if they're pre-soviet or pre-war or whatever. Like Verdant said, the talk lately about Bubba, especially when it comes to Peyote Purple seems to lean more toward a pure indica variety. With the resin she produces, she's definitely a winner.

Would love to see more varieties like the red Lebanese you mentioned being offered.

A lot of soldiers may be "stoners" but most likely not while while on active duty. The DOD subjects members of the military to yearly drug tests for a variety of illegal drugs yearly. Up to 75 thousand a month is the last number I heard.

My buddy Was in Afghanistan 2001-2012 or so.
He started growing around Ft. Benning in the mid-90's.

He brought back a lot of seeds from the Middle East in the 2000's.
He said it was all crap. A couple nice plants, but the majority was crap.

I've seen this echoed from the old breeders when they were getting Afghan seeds in the 1970's
This is why there were only a few Afghan lines used for breeding most of what we see from the 70's, 80's and 90's. Namely Kandahar, MiS, Ortega, NL.

I think Alien Tech and Helmand are pretty much the only good plants found from the Global War On Terror era.

I think the reason Afghan genetics only produce one good plant out of a thousand is because they dont selectively breed, and they dont smoke plants - instead, they smoke hash made from sieving the entire field and allowing the entire field to open pollinate.
I believe stellar individual plants only come from regions where the people smoke flowers, so they get to choose the seeds from the individual plants they see as stellar.
