Week 5 from seed, healthy or sick?

Hello again friends,

I'm just gonna post pictures of my closet grow for the first step, then I'm gonna ask some questions regarding the symptoms so you can better understand my concerns if that's ok with you.

Topped one

Dry leaf on one of the plants

Old position of the lights(about 35 cm or 1.13 feet or 13.78 inch)

Note:when I noticed the dry ends of leafs, the lights were even lower, almost touching the plants, but I figured it was o.k. since I read the general rule of thumb is if it's o.k. for your arm, it's o.k. for the plants

Why are the leafs wider on this one?

Stripes on leafs

Bag seeds btw, no idea where they came from, all together I've got 5 plants.

What's happening to the leafs? Some are getting stripes, some are drying out from the ends(lamp too close maybe?)...

Temperature is from 23°C or 73F(lights off) to 28°C or 82F(lights on), RH is 50-65%(not using humidifier, just spraying with water when the lights are off), have a fan circulating the air inside the closet, I do not however have an air outtake fan, because it does not stink yet, but the plants get fresh air when I open the closet to check'em out, and I often leave the closet open(when the lights are on).

I do not know the pH of soil, but it's suppose to be from 6.0-7.0, the soil is called N8, using tap water to feed every other day, about 200-300ml or untill I see dripping at the bottom of the 2.3L bucket, no nutes yet as I am in about 5th week of veg from seed and did not know whether or not to use'em.

Light regime:
I started from seed under a 16W LED for 24/7 2 weeks, moved'em to 125W fluoros 20/4 for 1 week, and now I'm on the 2nd day of 3rd week of 18/6 250W fluoros. Lights are about 50cm (20inch or 1.62feet) from the plants as of this point.

When do you think I should flip to 12/12?
Should I use nutes or wait untill they're healed(hopefully)?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I don't want to kill them AGAIN...

Thanks for reading guys

I would check the ph of the tap water, looks like some sort of burn. It is just a lower tip now but it will get worse. A ph tds combo pen with an extra electrode is a very wise investment!

If the ph of water was the cause of this, would they even get this big?

I'm gonna go buy water ph meter in the near future without a doubt, I'm just saying it doesn't seem logical that the plant's starting to burn now and not before... although now that I think of it, the same thing happened to plants in my previous failed attempts, only they did not get this big at all..

Thanks for your input mate

Ph high or low can burn, it can cause burn from ph and from nutrient uptake as rates change due to ph. They can grow huge with ph issues, lockouts, to much fert, really anything. But they will increasingly become damaged if not fixed. Is it soil? Could be a hot soil mix? Even coco husk needs micro's but they look pretty healthy. Could even be over watering but they don't look heavy and droopy. Sometimes overwatering can burn leaf tips due to root rot. How are your roots?

Taking notes.

What does hot soil mix mean? Is this the T of the soil maybe?

I cannot define root's state as I do not have a clue how I would do such a thing...could you help me out on this?

Any updated pictures?
These are from today.

Hot soil means to many ferts. Roots should be fuzzy white with a musty smell. Rotten roots look brown and can stink.

Well I do not fertilize it...and I doubt it has that much nutes in it by default to burn it...

So in order to check the roots, I have to replant it right?:look at this:

I think I'll leave it as it is for a few days or just replant one or two, and see what happens, if the roots are rotten, I'll replant the rest, otherwise I'll leave'em be, for now I just raised the lights.

It's not bad, I would hate to see it get worse. No need to replant and a minor hot soil will cool each watering. This can be normal for young plants in a soil geared towards a more mature vegling.

Well thanks for your input mate, I'll post pictures when changes occur(for better or worse) :thank you:

You're just wrong.

They can grow big with problems, I had major ph problems when my pen broke and they were big.

Well here are the pictures from the day I started the thread:

See the stripes and burns on the leafs?

I borrowed a ph meter today, and measured my tap water and soil.
Water:7.5
Soil 5.8-6

I think the soil should work just fine, I'm not so sure the meter worked correctly(you have to calibrate it in pH4 and pH7 buffers before you measure, and everything's in german, clumsy to work with), I am worried about the water though as I read it's ideal ph is from 6.3-6.9.

My question now is: is 7.5 too far off track, is it the reason I'm burning my plants in your oppinion, or am I just overwatering. It's been 2 days since I last watered, and the soil is still pretty moised.
Any thoughts?

I am clueless, honestly they look good. I wonder why your run off is so low when you water is high? What sort of soil mix?

The soil I'm using is ''Neuhaus N8'', it's a mixture of white and black peat with clay pieces. The PH is suppose to be from 5.5-6.5, NPK ferts are in 14:16:18 on 1.5kg/m3....that's what It sais on the bag, if it helps(guess the PH meter wasn't wrong lol).

Anyways, this is the progress so far, they may be improving, I haven't watered them in 3 days now, waiting for the leafs to drop(testing if the cause of my ''burning'' was over watering).

I think they're looking better...
What do you think?

They look perfect but don't let them wilt to much. They are young, stress is an issue at this age.

I hear you, what about the flowering phase? Should I wait a few more weeks? When do you think I should switch to 12/12, some people told me to wait till it starts doing the 8th floor...

Pretty young now unless they are a long flowering sativa & they don't appear so. What is your flowering space, light & so on?

Height: 1m
Width: 50cm
Length: 1.5m

Light: 2x125W CFL 2700K (I have 3 of'em, but no room to put the 3rd one)

This is so far, I'm gonna build a bigger closet once I get room to(hopefully in the next 2 months). That is, if this grow goes well.
