My friends plants are only in 5 weeks of flowering stage. Anyways, the hairs on the plants are turning orangish brownish. Her concern is that according to the strain, it needs 7-9 weeks to mature. Is this normal that the hairs are turning so quickly? When should she bust the microscope out? Where are the Trichomes located?

The 1st flowers' hairs will change color before the majority of them do. Temps, ph, rh are all good? You probably dont need to check the trichs yet. They are the miniscule lil mushroom looking things that are all over the calyxes and suger leaves - they are the sugar.

Are you plants in Hydro or Soil? Keep an eye on temps and make sure the plants aren't getting stressed in some way. Like wildgrow said some will turn before others depending on when they started on the plant.

soil...the room is very crowded and there are 24 stuffed in there, but they all look healthy. It was said that a major trim should be conducted so the light can penetrate the lower branches. Afraid to do anything at this point....dont want to mess up a good thing, if you know what I mean.

I would try to get those to temps within 5-10 degrees of each other- preferrably the 75ish range. As the temps lower the growth rate decreases.

Very hot even at 75. I keep mine at 68-70 degrees at night around 63.what's your humidity?

im thinking i should take a light out because i have 3 400 watt bulbs, due to the heat level, i have more of a problem with the higher temps. I can bring the night time temps up from 60 to perhaps 70, but when i have the lights on the temps are kind of high. I have input and output industrial 6 in fans running, and also 6" fans that run through the lights to keep them cool. I wonder if two lights will do? the room is 7 feet high, 4 ft wide and 8 feet long.

As you see, there are differing opinions on almost everything to do with this hobby- theres more than one way to skin a cat tho. If your girls are looking good then I wouldnt mess TOO MUCH at this point. You will find your ranges you prefer with experience. If you do have a scope, have a look at a bud and the little mushroom looking things (trichomes), You want to harvest according to the color of the heads. They start out clear, then cloudy and finally amber. Cloudy is more up type high, amber is couchlock. PS with temps max at 85 I would leave the lights plugged in. The girls will need it especially at this stage- The majority of weight is put on towards the end. Dont harvest to soon-be patient

:yeahthats 85 is a little high, but not horrible. Dont drop the 3rd light. Instead try to get a bit more airflow. If you cant, make sure you keep your rh in check. Dense buds + hot, humid air = a big ol' heap o' trouble.
