does anyone know the difference between a thread where you have the option to say yes or no on whether the post was helpful and the threads where this is not an option?

If I'm not mistaken, it depends where the thread was started in..there are some sections/subsections
which doesn't have this option enabled..most likely to avoid negative vibes!

ye...there is the option for that to be turned on or off in each forum...
i think it's a admin only option...

You should still be able to rep those threads even if you can't helpful them. The scales should still be there.
