Curing for vap use

Hey

I have read all the benefits of curing bud for smoke. Makes it a cleaner, better, stronger smoke etc. What about for vaping? Since your not actually burning the weed does it make a difference if you cure or not?
I smoke and vap so I will be curing my buds when the time comes, this has just been a question thats been on my mind for a while.

thanks

Hi budsahoy

I once read something on here that says you should cure your buds down to the following RH levels before consumption:

50% RH for smoking
60% RH for vaping

I guess the extra 10% of RH when vaping may mean that moisture is more easily drawn out of the buds as there will obviously be more moisture present.

Bottom line is you should be curing your buds regardless of your intended method of ingestion. Curing is not just about drying your weed out evenly for combustion. It's also about converting all the acidic THC deep inside your buds into a neutral, psychoactive form, the same as it is on the outside layer after the drying phase. Otherwise the outer layer of your buds will be the most potent part but inside will remain too wet and less potent.

I would think its all the same. the better the cure, the better the smoke, the better "it" smokes

From the 'Launch Box'TM, manuel.

"The Box requires dry Material and an extremely fine grind. Properly gorund material should pass easily through the mesh of a common window screen. A trick to getting a finer grind is to remove the load after a couple of draws after the material has become thoroughly dry, then regrind before re-loading. Always remember, keep it fine and dry!"

This from the manuel.... So I guess the Q still remains. What is DRY? :)

Long time vaper here - the cure affects the flavor and the stone a lot. If the buds have had enough humidity for the curing process then the high becomes more "body" the older it gets. The flavor becomes deeper and more intense upto about the 1 year cure mark where I think it begins to deteriorate. There a line where weed gets a bit stale - it's fine to smoke but is unpleasant to vape.

I take mine to about 55%. Some strains grind powdery dry, some don't. Not sure why. Powdery consistency does vape best.

Very true...

Long time vaper here too mate. I'd be interested to hear your method.

Me I cure my weed till it stabilizes at 55% in jars, then it's ready to be vaped. I fill the vape chamber of my Volcano up to the safe fill line then vape the product four times, once at each of the following temperatures: 185°C, 190°C, 195°C and 200°C or (365°F, 374°F, 383°F and 392°F).

After this point the weed is usually spent but can be used one last time in a bong for a minor buzz.

I keep meaning to start a vaping advice/discussion thread because there's a lot of things you can do to improve the vaping experience and lots I still don't understand.

I vape using the Storz and Bickel Plenty, the volcano and the iolite - all at around the 190C mark. Usually smoke at some point in the day but always get much higher vaping than i can smoking. I start vaping the buds when they're immature on the plant so I can monitor the progression of the high as it finishes. Then pretty much carry on vaping them as they're curing to find that sweet spot. All just experimenting really.

I'm tempted to freeze my next sativa run at the 3 month cure mark to preserve the clarity of the high.
