Where to retire in USA?

there are lots of cool small towns all over SoCali, and especially out in desert areas, where homes are more affordable and the weather is warm and dry. That's what I would personally suggest.
It would be way cool to create a cannabis-friendly retirement community with a shared community garden somewhere... wouldn't it? Does anyone know if a place like that exists?

What if by some strange stroke of luck Florida goes legal at least from a medicinal standpoint ( or jeez at least decriminalize a fking oz already, currently a "felony"? It's probably more liberal in Iran than Fla is right now)

But if that happened how many would stream into the sunshine state where a $500K house in Ca is 100K in SW Fla and a multi-million dollar pad a couple blocks away from the ocean in socal can easily be had for less than 500k in Fla.

It may not be as crazy an idea as you think. Another bill has been introduced for Medical Canna in the state of Fla. Probly really long odds but it's a start.

Just to see a decrim of an oz would be a start. I think North Korea may be more liberal than Fla on this issue. Well maybe not, maybe about the same

Ruidoso N.M. is a wonderfully scenic location with a thriving art and music community. Economically similar to the southern states with lots of culture to soak up. Nearby Alamogordo offers top quality healthcare.

Im also looking for a place to move to and retire. Finding a place that I can afford is the hard part.

With the best sticky-icky on the boards Hammer, Im sure it wont be too hard finding a place you can afford. Finding a place with a heli-pad to land your helicopter though could pose a problem. :)

I am in good health but my wife has MS. Some things that are important to us. Weather: she feels much better in a climate without extreme hot, cold and humidity. Also she needs access to good medical care.

If she is symtomatic, getting out of the shower, you may want to stay in So. Calif. and not so close to the coast. Riverside has decent Hospitals and M.S. doc's in Loma Linda, CA. And there are docs for M.S. in Los Angeles and Palm Springs. Los Angeles is too humid and Palm Springs is Too hot..I live in the middle. Anything West of Riverside/San Bernardino area, is too humid, South is too hot. Northern Calif..too cold, mostly, for M.S. patients. Climate is a big factor.

There was a "community" garden of medicinal marijuana at this retirement community, called Laguna Woods, CA: All were 'authorized' to grow in a private community garden. After the retired stoned patients let the local news do a in depth video on it... And THEN this...

Board bans medical marijuana in community gardens

http://www.ocregister.com/news/marijuana-233243-community-medical.html

Ideally, Laguna Woods would have been a perfect place. They distributed to any patient living on the grounds! Way to go..but too much talk about growing!
Now, they have 2 collectives/dispensaries, instead. And no one is talking, about the gardens on the grounds.

I expect most retirement "communities" in Calif. have had a lawyer word "property growing use"
Where i live, there was a conversation with the lawyer, not about marijuana; but, he jokingly told my lawyer..."you can't grow marijuana there" If it has to do with MMJ in Calif. the "communty garden is not such a good idea. Well, it WAS, until it made the 5 o'clock news, seniors smoking joints!

my wife is from Dallas, Oregon (close to Salem). it is really beautiful there but, compared to rural Florida (where we live), the cost of living is high, especially property tax. Colorado would be a good choice, low humidity, cool temps, nice people, lax cannabis laws and probably excellent medical care available.

I think Colorado beats it, at least for hobby growers. It's legal under the state constitution for any person to have up to 6 plants, but only 3 flowering. Double that for a couple.

Colorado law enforcement officials can't bust you if you stay within the rules, and it seems unlikely that the Feds will bother any small time hobby growers who stay scrupulously on the non-commercial side of cannabis.

I figure that two people with a 1000w light & good technique can easily stay as baked as they want and have some left over for Christmas presents. I'll let you know for sure somewhere down the road. Just stay Colorado legal, approach it as a hobby, something where you spend money to do it. Only the Feds can bust you.

You can probably gift the shake & any surplus to a MMJ oil making charity & get a tax break from the IRS...

Growing, possessing & smoking MJ are now legal under the Colorado Constitution. There are rules, easy ones, stupid ones, and the penalties for minor infractions are likely to be minor as well. Toking up in a "public" place will likely mean a ticket, if anybody bothers to bust you.

but in Washington we can grow 15 per card and can have up to 3 cards per site so 45 plants
Now thats not bad

That all sounds great, but you have to play the game, hope it doesn't turn on you like it has on registered growers in Mendocino(??) county. The Feds are demanding that info....

In Colorado, you don't have to play the game. No card, no registration, no bullshit. No exposure to State officialdom at all to grow your own, toke in designated places, carry up to an ounce on the street. Give it away for Christmas presents.

Growing for profit, illegal or medical, is a whole different deal.

I thought somebody wanted to find a good place to retire, not go into business.

45 plants sounds like business to me. Just sayin'...

There really is no home possession limit in Colorado anymore, not for dope you could reasonably have grown in your own home. Even at a rather poor half a gram per watt per 4 months, a 1000w light & a smaller one to veg seedlings should average nearly an ounce of primo sinsemilla on a weekly basis, continuously. Outdoor grows remain an unsettled issue.

No registration, no card, no expenses to renew the card, no official lists or gameplay. No bullshit. Anybody can do it in Colorado. They just have to do it.

Double the number of plants for MMJ growers, but then you have to play the game. Why bother?

Which is not to disparage Washington, at all. They're moving ahead, too, just a little differently. It's easy for Colorado hobby growers to stay anonymously legal, and when you do, the local authorities can't mess with you, at all. They won't even try. I feel really fortunate to live here.
