African strains who has them?

I can't edit yet so I have to post again. Is it just my imagination or not? I see other landraces being worked with but little to none working with African strains. Maybe a little durban but other than that not much. Really not much with any sativa landraces except Haze which is not a landrace.

Ace works with a killer malawi mom.
you can buy malawi beans when they're in stock.
or you could go w/ their golden tiger.
GT is malawi x thai i think.
rare dankness also has somolia taxi ride which is a malawi x nevilles haze x trainwreck.

Anybody know anything about holy smoke seed co? They offer a few pure african landrace strains and apparently one of their breeders grew up in Africa. Some intriguing strains at good prices. Would love to hear a review.

Tropical Seeds Company as well...
They carry the Congo Pointe Noire, Ciskei and a Zambia. They got a decent reputation, and a fair price.

Yeah, I am very interested in those Holy Smokes seeds aswell. I think my next seed purchase will involve some of their Mulanje Gold.

At the moment I am flowering out two Sinai ladies from the Real Seed Co.
At week 5 so far and looking like they'll go on for quite a while yet, they are some quite rare and unique North African genes.

Isn't Holy Smoke and Tropical Seed the same place? I think there may be some other names as well. There is a thread on Skunk, I'll ask.

Pretty sure Holy Smoke just resells Malberry seeds. Malberry has been around a long time doing land race genetics. They have more than just Africans. I can't comment on the quality as I haven't seen anything or grown anything, but I've also never heard a bad thing about them.

ACE CBN for sure. They have Congo, Bangi Haze, Zamaldellic, Malawi, Golden Tiger...

I am interested in Top Dawg seeds African Haze as well. JJ NYC has some nice Nigerian hybrids. Strawberry Mango sounds really nice.

I have a pack of Frankenfuel Kariba x NH3 but don't think they are going to be remade or will be available any more.

Mandala has a few...

I am kind of freaking out wanting some Durban Headband I saw at the Bay. Some Durban hybrids there right now.

That's a start!

They don't have anything to do with Tropical Seed Co, which is a well known and respected spanish based seedbank that has been in the scene for a few years already. It's a pretty cool breeder that has been working with old interesting stocks as Ciskei Bushman (fast compact sativa), and old spanish congolese and some african strains sourced from African Herbman himself, real deal (Swazi, Congo Black, Durban...). Used to have African Seed's Zambian reproductions as well. They have interesting hybrids with Nepal, africans and collabs with CannaBiogen and their PCKs too. They were about to get bakrupt some time ago, most spanish growers just buy commercial strains.

As for Holy Smokes/Malberry.. there is some controversy due to their picture stoling and suspicious website and information although some people reported nice plants and pictures looked legit. Afropips appeared to be still online some time ago and there is another seedbank called Seeds of Africa but not many info.

As some others recommended already, you have also some cool african representation in ACE seeds.. Malawi, Golden Tiger or Zamaldelica for malawi representation while Congo and Banghi Haze for congolese hybrids.

Mandala used to sell Nigerians too.

Very interestin plants for sure, nothing commercial... new flavours and effects! :tiphat:

Yeah, was reading about this earlier.

Malberry apparently nicked a load of pictures from Karma genetics to go with his strains, the pic for Drakensberg for example is a rehashed and photoshopped version of a Black Afghani and the Afghani Peshawar is actually a pic of Sour Jack.
Some of the other promo pics where highly suspicious aswell, pics of obvious modern polyhybrids being passed off as pics of things like Nepali Rukum and other traditional sativas.

Nick from Holy Smoke seeds has been pretty honest in saying that his stock is from Malberry, and despite the dodgy pics and Malberrys even dodgier business practices, the seeds themselves have turned out to be what they're supposed to be... at least the African landraces anyway. Though they don't seem to have done anything about changing the fake pics at most retailers.

Unfortunately Maljim (Afroman) passed away a while back, Afropips seems to have gone with him :(

Yeah that seems to be whats going on nowadays, I would love to know the real source of all those seeds, people don't realize that us landrace lovers, love to have legit info on the source of the strains, villages and areas they were collected, detailed info on the strain characteristic's and so on.

It's a shame that African Seeds went out of bussiness after all the Mark Emery's bust. I think it was the only seedbank offering true heirlooms collected in Africa. All of them were true jewels. I've only seen the Ethiopian Highland and Malawi being grown and preserved. Although I must say that the pictures that used to be at the African Seeds website were taken from the color central pages from the Hashish book, R. C. Clarke as well.

Afropips was pretty cool as well besides they didn't offer so many landraces, and as far as I know, Jim was reproducing the seeds outside Africa under indoor lights (UK?). On the other hand, their Malawi and Swazi looked even more interesting than A. Seeds version, as far as I have experienced.

It begs the question though - why haven't they got their own pics?
This throws the legitimacy of their seeds into question no?
I've never grown their stuff so I cant say for sure, but I would stick with ace, cbg and tropical seed, their stuff is proven by many growers worldwide.

Grammar peeve: that's not begging the question, it's raising the question. Begging the question is never used right.

Delicatessen Seeds can be accessed from CannaBioGen website also. They work with Spanish African genetics also.

Very true indeed! This seedbank is so underground that I even forgot to mention it! Only a few places sell their seeds because they changed the name and distributors lately. They have a few interesting strains based on congolese and other africans, what's interesting is that all of them are very fast and clean high strong sativas with lot's of resin and nice colors, aromas and flavours are always outstanding, definitely their signature- Nothing to envy other reputed traditional commercial sativas at all...

Queen Mother and Lilly are great and renowned strains in Spain, they have the looks, the high, the flavour... although I think they have new names since the seedbank has changed to Original Delicatessen. It's a shame that the owner doesn't care a lot about the seedbank getting known outside Spain. I'm going to share two gorgeous pictures of QM aka Reina Madre posted in a Spanish forum because they deserve to be seen. Notice the very special colours and structure from this strain.
