Large hydro investment leaving me clueless!?

architect i just read your post and yeah looks like im getting good results now hitting the same EC as the mix you stated 1.6-1.7EC i will definatly have to check those out because the 3 part is cheap but cant beat that!

YEah, lose the GH 3 part. It sucks, period. Use Dyna-Gro. I use Pro-tekt, then Mag-Pro, Then Gro. The trick is to not leave out your addatives when using dyna-gro. It is a great one part nutrient that will ahve your plants looking like a millions bucks but they wont weigh much at all. You have to use Carbo Load, Overdrive, Potash for sure. Those are excellent in flower. Carbo load is also good to use during veg. And any other additive that is good for veg. I just did a grow with Dyna-Gro , gro only. and it didnt weight anything. I misunderstood the person i was learning from when he said he uses Gro all the way through. He just meant that he liked the extra Nitrogen during flowering, since he did a lot of training. BUt when people say the plant REALLY likes P in flowering, they are not playing. Make sure they have lots of Bloom Booster, and if you like the sweet sticky type of buds Carbo Load goes straight through to the buds and you will smell and feel it in 2-5 days. Also, i dont know what PPM meter you use, but you could be accidentially UNDERFeeding the girls without realizing. it. Find out what EC your manufacturers PPM correlates to and use the EC number. I was giving my plants half strenght for 2 grows without knowing it. My meter stops at 1600 ppm, and i never even thought to calibrate it. I just calibrate the PH and forget the rest. So measure with EC, EC is honest on all meters. I am in the last month of a grow right now and my EC is 2.8, before i realized that i was missing out by using PPM i was stopping at 1.8 EC. That 10 points of EC was why i thought i did not have room for Additives, and that they were just snake oil. They are NOT. The stuff over at advanced nutrients works man. But i wont use a anything other than Dyna-Gro for a base nutrient, it is designed for hydro , and is just too easy. heres that chart from another IC thread:

Plant biology is plant biology. Nothing wrong with building a solid base of scientific knowledge and applying it to practical experience with cannabis. The two go hand in hand, rather than at odds. I wish more folks would realize it doesn't have to be an either or situation.

I think DHF and most the guys on here are pretty balls on from there experience honestly 1.2-1.6EC seems to be about right really depending on plant size type humidity those types of things. Getting it down just takes time like noticing that hey they didnt take in as much water today after i raised it a 100ppm oops i went the wrong way. And i think most the acedemic research done on hydro for cannabis and published is probably done by those "people who have grown marijuana for years" as far as im concerned i have been getting the cannabis science book authors input and feedback this whole time. Thanks dhf, hs, architect and all the other pros who have came in with input for me.

back on topic somone replied to me that they think the stretching was caused by low nutes in early flower, I cant remember who posted that on here without reading back through it was someone who left a one time comment.

Check out one my little extra experimental jilly beans (the purp strain i do) I have been vegging them at about 950ppm(1.3X) with 1-1-1 ratio since i entered hydro about a 6mo ago. The excessive build up of P would always cause the PH to drop as the water got consumed and it built up i now realize, also the low numbers caused my jilly to stretch more then iv ever known! well I switched this one too my -2 formula which was 5 10-5-2.5 0 which was 1240ppm(1.70) 5.6 ph 4 days ago and im noticing some interesting things. Checked the pail it lost 1.5 gallons and was at 960ppm 6.4ph! Finally getting a rise not a drop in my veg solution! It is vegging like an indica again and more like an indica then i was ever able to get from it in promix. such tight node spacing! also interesting enough i have stared at the 900ppm roots long enough to tell a huge difference in root development. The roots usually when i vegged this plant in my low mix where tons of long spegetti not much side branching, i assume now it was the plant sending out long ass roots seeking more fertile grounds as it was a low nute level. Now these roots are sending out 10x the side shoots and the thickness and length of them considerably, i assume plant roots saying hey we found the promise land lets set up camp. I cant wait to get my next set of jilly in that room this will be a great strategy to lower the ppms to get the canopy to stretch and fill into place then ramp the ppms back up for some tight bud sights! check out attached pics.

day 28 they are showing some growth finally, majority of it has happened in the past few days since i switched from 1.1-1.2ish ec to the 1.7 range. Hoping for some serious growth now that they are in the right range just intime for the critical blooming weeks.

This is the 3k ebb and flow 5 gallon buckets im referring too, flooding and draining every 45min lights on 4hrs light off with intense air stones in the res, thats was my final decision on that weeks ago, so its basically a dwc with a short break between. See pic
