not sure if i should put this in the micro or security section...

basically as the title says, how do you guys keep your tents looking stealthy?

or does it not matter?

also while we are at it, what are the best tents for the price?

member on here, Bueno Time has shown a 2.5x1.5x3' tent for less than 75. HIGHLY considering puchasing it...

i have a 4x4 SecretJarden and just bought a 5x5 from gothamhydro for alot less than my SJ and the gothamhydro tent has thicker canvas, more passive intakes & they need to be taped closed if not needed b/c no velcro, bigger hvac ports and it came w/extra corner connector.

my tents are stealthy if the door is shut on the room they are in.

try and reduce all exhaust fan noise by using duct mufflers and isolate pumps or any other noisy equipment.

if any noise can be herd then have an explanation and change the subject.

peace

Ive kept my tent in a quite dark corner of the room, so it doesnt stick out too much. plus it zips open and closed not facing any windows or anywhere light could escape outside for others to see the unwanted shine when opening and closing.

the ducting ive covered with cut up black bin bags, so outside, it all just looks black, no shiny stuff anywhere to be seen.

Not sure on tents, i just bought my first, and not impressed at all. Weak bars, flimsy frame moves side to side easily etc.
I went to another growshop and seen a slightly bigger one than mine, with proper bars and frame. It was so strong i could do pullups with the roof bars, and there was no bending , lol
only 50 pounds more, and definately much better quality than my budbox.

Live and learn i guess, not going to make the same mistake again, thats for sure.

Noise wise, i put the tent on anti-fatigue mats (amazon?), and now i dont have any vibrations at all. Only noise i can hear is the carbon filter sucking away, which a voltage regulator should help to control and bring to a more manageable amount of negative pressure.

Hope that helps, and wishing you a successful purchase of a great tent m8

My main concern is noise so a few of the things I've done are; putting the exhaust fan in the attic and hanging it from bungee cords, use insulated ducting, I put the whole tent on a 2" piece of styrofoam, and the fan that's inside the tent for circulation is hanging from a bungee cord too. from outside the room with the tent there is no noise at all. From inside the room, well its pretty hard to hide a 5x5 tent..

Noise from the extractor/carbon filter and odour leaks when opening the tent door are the main security issues I've encountered with tents.
To reduce noise from the extractor/filter I housed the extractor fan in an insulated box, fitted a fan speed controller to slow the fan down and kept the ducting as short and straight as possible to lessen air resistance.
To reduce risks from odour leaks when opening the tent door I only opened it late at night when less people are around and used scented candles, joss sticks and air fresheners to mask the smell. It helps to have a plan and work quickly so the tent door is only open as short a time as necessary.

thanks bro, i deff dont want a cheap flimsy tent...

I have a question tho, you say you leave the door closed to the room that the tent is in...

where does your exhaust from the tent go?

just wondering I had a situation before where the exhaust was going out into the room, but the door was always closed and eventually it was just recirculating stale air... do you ever run into this problem or how do you prevent it?

thanks for the advice bro. do you put things in front of it or is it just out in the open?

mine will be smaller so hopefully it wont be too hard to hide...

scent is always going to leak out when you open the doors.

Im more worried about the look of it from a quick glance. a random tent in the corner looks awful suspicious...

atleast it would to me...

Im must be stoned, i cant see where i said my doors are closed, lol
The door is closed tho, lol

I got windows in the room, and they are open slightly (half locked), which due to the negative pressure, is actually helping to draw in fresh air, so really there no stale air in the room itself. Everyday when i visit em, the smell is fresh air, no green, or moisture etc.
everyday i check temp and humidity levels in tent, outside tent, above tent, and havent had any real problems (yet, lol)
my light isnt creating enough heat to make the outside room warm, whilst cool air is being sucked in thru the windows, even though its just a inch or so open..
lol, when i dont open the flaps/side vents on my tent, the thing sucks itself in so much, my 1m width prolly would only be about 60-70cm max.

if I manage to do 1 or 2 crops with my 250w, im gonna use a 400W light next, and at that point im planning to pump the warm air around the house for free heating..lol

Hope that makes sense bro..bit too stoned right now, lol

hi there soursmoker i have a dr100 tent which is in my bedroom and one thing i do with the tent is have 2 x 2meters of ducting coming out the holes at the sides of the tent & going over the tent so that when light goes out i can close the flap vents and the ducting lets air in and light out..so its light proof in my room when my bedroom lights on..also if you have a window in the room i use velcro on window frame and on black and white sheeting and only attach black and white too window when your feeding plants that way no light leaks...i have heard greenroom tents are amazing very strong and made from thick material...all the best for your grow m8

If your trying tobe a sneaker person, get into fish!!!!

The question who are you looking to hide it from?

If you are hiding from someone who lives with you? How big is your grow spot? I mean you need to figure that out first before doign anything.

I have a cheap 30$ bathroom fan i picked up at HomeDepot and cut a hole in a board and mounted it with L brackets. Total cost of the working door was roughly 38$ not including labor. I bought an extension cord that i cut the female jack off and wired it straight to the bathroom fan. Simple solution that allows you to hook up to a wall timer on a different breaker and i drap a sheet over the grow box consealing any visual evidence.

A fan running can be easily excused. I have a fish tank that i stuck on top that houses my fish. Simple easy solution to say its equipment for my tank and prefer the look of cloth than seeing all the pumps running. I've been working on an idea of maybe creating a hydro setup using fish water for nutrients, however i haven't had time to really pursue this

Again its all about the environment around the area and how big your area is

funny, just the other day i was thinking how great it would be to have an aquarium... not an option right now really, but deff will keep that in mind for the future...

not sure what exactly you mean about the the door and bathroom fan, kinda confused...

dank420uk

might be too stoned but im not sure what you mean by the ducting over the tent and then closing vent but still letting air through, lol

What?

maybe im not stoned enough? :dunno:

sorry i forgot ya!

I was reading morcheeba's post and responded to you about the door being closed lol

lol but thats sweet you have windows in the room, the rooom i was going to put it in is a walk in closet in the attic with no windows...

prob wont put it in there..

how do you have your tent positioned so that no light goes through your windows when you open the tent door?

dank420uk

sorry soursmoker my tents has 3 square vents at the bottom of the tent i keep 1 open as a passive intake..but on the left and right side at bottom of the tent there is 2 x round 6ins holes for ducting i have the ducting coming out of these and they go up over the tent here
is a pic below.. i will get more pics as i dont have a grow going at the moment

lol i get it now man! thanks, as they say picture is worth a thousand words...

is it a pain to go in everynight and close the vents? why dont you just use the ducting itself as passive intake, or am i still missing something? lol

D

dank420uk

no m8 its not a pain and the reason i only use ducting at night is because when the lights off
it dosent need as much airflow as during lights on thats why i open vents during veg i hope this helps lol

true as soon as i asked the question i figured the answer would be you need more intake when lights are on. thanks bro...

D

dank420uk

if there was 2 more holes at the bottom of the tent it would work great..thats why i am going to build my own growroom

D

dank420uk

hi there soursmoker istead of buying a tent you could buy 2 wardrobes
and join them together like this and it would look ok in a bedroom just an idea lol

right now im using a cabinet that i built but i think a tent would be much better, i had some flaws in my design, and instead of going through all the labor of building another i plan on just spending 75 bucks and having a much better environment...for now..

later down the road i plan on building more cabinets/dresser/wardrobes and making them blend in well. just not yet.
