how do you elevate your pots...

and collect the runoff water to get rid of. Do most of you just let it evaporate by itself, pull out the runoff tray by hand and dump it, vacuum it with a water vacuum, water pump and hose?

I didn't rinse my botanicare coco and my runoff ppm's are around 900. I might've heat stressed the clones too by putting em straight under the 600 hps too.

i use sawhorses, which has a 3x3 tray sitting on top that drains to bucket. what kind of tray are u using? how much space are u working with?
I rinse my coco preety heavily then "recharge" it with a bucket of ph'd water with calmag and sm90.
are you running aircooled lights?
hope that helps

900ppm is fine. Sometimes its a lot worse.
Get a tray and shopvac or drain to a rez. I just shopvac the tray. Its slightly raised in the back.
Saucers become a lot of work

I educate them and help them with their self-esteem. I find that they pretty much finish elevating themselves when they have the right information and tools. :)

Oh POTS!

Uhmm.... Usually came down to what I had on hand or was non-toxic and cheaply available locally.

To elevate pots I've used bricks, plastic tubes, hydroton, lavarock and probably a few other things.

To remove the water you can use a number of plastic trays and, depending on the amount of water, pull it out with a turkey baster or a 5-gal tank vac.

Get some pond liner and don't elevate? Build a sturdy plywood table with a slope to it. Line the sides with 2x4's and put your pond liner over it, form a drain in one corner. Have the drain go into a n appropriate sized bucket. Dump the bucket around your shrubs and on your lawn.

Hope that helps.

I like the idea of using a raised hydro tray with a drain . im using an air cooled 600. right now I have the dirt pots in saucers. i only have 7 vertical ft to work with though. Ill probably check out prices for trays today I have a couple sawhorses in the shed but they might be too tall.
do those hydro trays all drain out one corner. I looked at the online prices I cant believe a piece of plastic could be 200? probably because of the shipping cost..

the 900 ppm was right after watering with 30 ppm water and it came out 6.5 ph. (5.8 in).. after a few more glasses of water it went to 650 but still 6.5 The clones turned yellow quick but I think it was from blasting them with the 600 right away. but it also could of been high ppm's and ph? I raised the light and started feeding them so hopefully they'll bounce back.

these girls need some self esteem the way the been looking..i also like the idea of building one with a pond liner. i seen this on the net i thought it looked good.

Milk crates with tables on top, or solo cups if it's a 5 G or less pot... Make a triangle with each point being 4 stacked solo cups, and set the pot right on top.... Of course put a saucer under the triangle for the water to be caught.... I usually use this method just to make a even canopy... Never had the cups collapse

this will cost some money but get a tray and some pond liner on the floor. trays come in all sizes and they will accommodate run off. or get some blue mat drippers and set them to zero run off. you still need something in case of spills or accidents. happens all the time. trays on top of pond liner keeps things cleaner and your plants and you happier.

i keep my clones soaked in their own runoff(1/2") with rockwool cubes. works really fast and easy. typically roots in a week. doesn't work so well with coco.

what's up purp playa... been a while, hope all's well your way.

i ran my trays 12" off the floor, drains ran to a sump (rez) on the floor which was fitted with a sump pump switched by a float valve and plumbed to the buildings waste drain. might be more than you want to do but you can do similar but simpler, ie, drain the sump rez by hand, etc.

i've planted into unrinsed coco with no probs, just water with heavy runoff first few times til runoff ec drops to acceptable range. these were planted in #7's, unrinsed cocogro:

if you're limited with headroom you can set up a trellis and semi-scrog: bend your tall shoots back under the net.

Corrugated metal (used for metal roofs usually) that slops into a gutter, that way you can direct all your tables into one drain. Over the metal you can use plastic egg-crate diffuser (sold in 4' sections at home depot) or expanded metal to keep pots off of the metal so as to not soak up other pots' runoff. Gutters though at least ;)

sup 40..alls good. just tryna get things growing again.. Seems like im forgetting all the lil things this time. I think my issues were overwatering, not high ppms/salty coco like I thought.
when they bounce back, I'm getting either a 3x3 or 4x4 tray from the hydro shop and probably raise it with bricks or milk crates and drain to a flat rubbermaid. Then either dump it by hand or like 40 said use a pump to get rid of it...
I'm going let the plants get thirsty before I give em any more water. Thinking about buying some rhizotonic today. Right now they're just getting h&g coco A+B (350 ppm)

My method

My method

Here's how I do it...
usually 3 gal smart pots, side pots would be 2 gal plastic or trash containers ( I like them for their shape wide at top, narrow at bottom, always forcing h2o down the sides...just me). Cyco coco, HnG nutes, RO h2o. I water till good run off, drains to my cellar. Best move ever.
Really enjoying the coco. More work and nute focus, but the results...great yield, xcellent taste. Quality cannabis.
Just my way.
Success w/ya grow!!!

I use the trays the pepsi or coke man delivers a case of 20 oz bottles in, you can adjust the height about 2 inches with every tray you stack on or take off, just ask next time your at a gas station if you can have some, then kitty litter boxes on top with some hose and silicone drip it into an empty gallon jug

Take a 12 inch round drip tray and put it upside down in a 16 inch trip tray. Plants don't sit in runoff and the larger tray below holds a good amount. After I'm done watering I vacuum out all the trays with a bucket head vac from Home Depot.

Lots of ways to do it lotsa great advice above. This is just simple and fast alternative.
