k,bro. last night i got home from a multi-level spinal fusion:) no really.

wifes been taking care of "stuff" for me, finally managed to sit at my desk top.

the reason i didnt like the syringe was well, it seemed to "set"(harden) backup to quickly, and being that they where pllastic syringes couldnt tourch them.

Iv egot aq small batch setting in a flask as i type, so.... in about a wk when im more mobile i will be sure to purge and pour off acouple lials. and take picks for you.

sorry to make you wait but lifes a bit hard right now.

thanks bro

KanadianKronik;4716310 first site i click on on google after typing in glass syringe: [URL said:
http://www.nttworldwide.com/syringe.htm[/URL] $10.95 for the smallest one

I use this type of glass syringe, because it a glass on glass fit that has no seals or rings. The plunger pulls straight out the end and makes everything easy to clean afterwards in hot alcohol.

The syringe filter on the end in this picture, is for an entirely different purpose.

plastic ones like the one I used are a big mess. :)

thanks KK, is your screan name refering to good aka "kronik" bud, or the strain known as Chronic(by serious). Just wondering cuz im a big fan of the strain Chronic. Had great luck with it.
anyways sorry to go off topic.
Yeah I spent 20 min "working" on some stuff last night and just about killed me! so soon Ill get you some picks.

I must say however, GrayWolfs glass syringe looks very tempting! and Im gona give one a try myself. :)

Fold a piece of tinfoil in half, smear the oil on it, put the end of the tinfoil to the top of the jar and put a lighter to the bottom of the foil. Like a gulley.

hi, ok still not ready, but sense Im gona post some pics in this thread, can ANYONE PLEASE tell me how to post full sized pictures? Ive mastered downloading a pic but how do I "blow it up"?
Please be detailed, because im easily confused, lol

i have a massive headache right now so i dont wanna be clicking everywhere, but if you click on the link for my 2011 outdoors and go to one of the last pages someone had explained just what you are looking for moresntoil,

also the kronik in my user name is reffering towards good bud, not a strain, but i may have to get some of that strain to try :D

also very good, cheap idea F.Dupp, i will have to try that tonight!

.. somthing i tried yesterday, i put the pyrex dish in the freezer and then once the oil was hard put it into the vials

i have filled glass vials, and the much thinner omicron cartridges with various oils using a frosting tip as a funnel. wilton #10 is just right, or you can cut a tip to size.
to stabilize the funnel a bit some folks put a toothpick in the funnel.

also worth adding that nowadays, the omicron folks give out a perfect fit groovy fill tool funnel thing, that would also be perfect for filling vials. look for omicron fill tool for pic.

Hi,

from my expirience, it depends on on the density and amount of vials to fill.
For an absolute or runny oil, best method I found is funnel.
Those are 5ml vials

I've been hunting for a practical way to fill a large quantity of vials; my friend believes using glass syringes is too time consuming.

My friend's brain child is to have a valved glass funnel passing through a hot water bath. After some discussion on building an apparatus, we decided that surely someone has already needed this and started checking out lab equipment.

Condensers first come to mind but they are generally small with a lot of narrow glass to navigate. After poking around, I believe that a jacketed reaction vessel is the product we're looking for.

We can pump hot water all around the funnel to keep the oil fluid-like.

A valve would be ideal for this so I searched for a unit that included one. Models that we were interested in cost thousands of dollars but we lucked out and snagged a used one in excellent shape for a few hundred at auction.

I'm hoping that the valve size won't be problematic in filling. There is plenty of room to insert a poking device but it would be really nice to not have the extra hassle.

The vessel arrives on Monday and then has to be taken in for sterilization. Should be using it by the end of next week.

Hopefully this fill goes smooth. In the future we may fill up at an early purging stage so that the oil is more fluid than it is now, post purge.

Haven't thought much yet on how we'll keep the hot water circulating...some king of small pump or insert some king of heating element into water....?

Thanks for sharing, looking forward to your results!

You can use an auxillary pump to circulate water from and back to an existing hot water tank or even a hot water vessel sitting on a hot plate.

Received vessel in one piece!

I'm not experienced in constructing furniture or anything similar so my home made stand isn't the most attractive. It did only take me an afternoon and $20 to build, though.

Made the stand out of some sturdy plastic shelving with two padded holes; one for the bottom of the vessel to rest on and one on top to catch the lip of the vessel and assure stability.

reactor%20stand2.jpg

The pot of water will be placed on a heating element behind the stand when in use. The bottom shelf will be lined in FDA approved silicone (in the mail) for easy cleanup if ever necessary.

A small submersible pump (box pictured to the right in images) almost instantly fills the jacketed layer and keeps a steady circulation of hot water around the inner vessel.

It was pretty magical when everything fired up as planned on the first go-at-it. The water is transparent so images don't show what's happening. I may post a video just because it's fun to watch. :)

It looks like now the only problem we may encounter is getting the oil to pass through an approximate 1mm passage when going through the valve.

reactor%20stand.jpg

The entire valve mechanism is easily removable and, with a drill bit, could be bored out to 3-4mm. This will be a quick fix if the valve does prove to be problematic.

Everything else seems good to go. I'm supposed to be moving into a new house (upgrade!) this weekend but we're going to Buku in NOLA (ill timing, I know) so may not be able to do a real fill until the end of next week.

This whole kit weighs around 10lbs and is completely collapsible/transportable in seconds with no tools required.

Parts used:

Jacketed reaction vessel
Plastic shelving unit
Duct tape
Bubble wrap
Water pump
1/2" ID vinyl tubing
Heating element
Water reservoir

Thanks for checking it out--we're pretty excited! :woohoo:

I just wet my finger and push it to the bottom of the jar...saving up for a 2-4cfm vacuum pump and food saver so I can vac purge.
