Thank you everyone, I have let them dry out for 3 days and now I'm going to do lighter feedings. I can see roots coming out of the smart pots on the sides, only a couple on the bottoms. I'm running roots excel aqua flakes , drip clean and cal/mag ,ppm 1200 ph 5.8 . The girls are looking great with new growth everyday. alot of great info in here , thank you everyone. I'll keep you posted, hoping to move to the flower room this weekend
When using coco with small cuttings/seedlings, you can def overwater your plant and cause them to stunt. This is why a lot of people recommend "bottom watering" when they have tender young plants.
As soon as root growth has started to flourish, (you can tell this by how quickly they dry out) that is when I recommend keeping it moist all the time, and adding something similar to ZHO or Great White, etc.
I've also read a thread or two on people giving there coco plants compost tea occasionally which they swear makes the roots insane....I've yet to actually try that.
Also, some plants simply grow roots faster then others, getting to know your strain will help you figure that out.
I just finally brewed my first tea. Added it to my DWC. Can't wait until my coco ladies dry a bit so I can add it to them too. Added some stuff called Vermi-T last week.
The tea I brewed:
2 Gallons of water
2 handfuls Ancient Forest
1 tsp MycoGrow soluble
1 tbsp molasses
Bubbled for 48 hours in a bucket. Finally decided I'd rather support the biology in the root zone. As opposed to frying it with Zone or fresh chlorinated tap water. I hope this helps.
Minister excellent link, just what I was looking for. So what is the thought here, I'm running House & Gardens aqua flakes roots excel and drip cleap plus some cal/mag. I would love to try some EWC tea, do the nutrients work with the tea or do they ruin the bennies ?
i know this sounds stupid ,but you can take an air pump and an air stone and plant it at the bottom of the pot then fill alittle on top the set your cutting and finish filling ,run the pump 24 7 all the air your roots could want and helps dry out the media so you can feed sooner ,hope this helps
yup its true. its expensive. but my little 500mls bottle (i think its 500) has last me about a year. i only use it in veg at about half dose and it seems to do good still..
sonic the hedgehog, now that's some funny/great stuff !! mine are getting there, more like Popeyes hair on his chin but getting there. Thank you to all, this has been a fun learning experience.
grab some rhizotonic.. lol shits bomb... works amazing.. and im starting an experiment on a plant.. Cannazym vs.. like 10 dollar pond enzymes.. .. this grow.. so we shall see if i can get 10 dollars for a concentrated substance that makes thousands of gallons of nutes.?
If you want enzymes take some organic barley, rice or alfalfa seed, germinate them and then make a tea...do not let it ferment. Genius and slightly cheaper than the hydro store thieves.
Directions in Gascanstan's thread about living recycled soil or something like that...it is a sticky.
