Bubba Kush and Purple Kush - compare and contrast

so just smoked my first Garbeville Purple Kush and loving it. Had the pre-98 bubba for a while and love that too.

the two are definitely different cuts but with a few similarities imo. perhaps related?

the PK has some cheesy and berry smells alongside a bubba-ish smell.

the bubba is more fucussed in the kushy/incense/coffee-ish

just wondering what others thoughts were about the two?

Another member I remember telling me and I agreed that the katsu bk doesn't taste at all like coffee ! Whether its meant to.Was much like the Tigers milk the smoke was (that I believe has bubba in the mix

The PK I think is Devine.Tastes/Smells REALLY lovely.
Smooth.. Strong.toking on that is like an elixir compared to many smokes IMO.Not really smelly but strong[ty],bubba was strong too but PK wins for me[both 8 weeks who hoo!] both strong plants.Not tried the pre 98 but the yield it has certainly looks bigger than the katsu.
All weed is cool tho,don't get me wrong [lol eh!]

LEX, thats a good question, ive seen the bubba rated as high cbd a few times but not been able to find much on the PK.

im also not sure about the difference between Las vegas PK and Garbeville PK (not sure how thats spelt)

one of the bubba S1s i grew out had a similar 'cheesey' terpene to the PK, which is not at all present in the pre-98 cut.

early days for me with the PK, so not sure about the nuances of the high as such.

the pumping heart thing comes from the weed lowering your blood pressure... not had that for a while but i know what you mean.

love me some pk and bk i always thought bubba and pk were related maybe even sister cuts from the same cross just the way the leaves and bus form around the buds like a crown type top like chunky golf balls almost. the pk i used to have always had the more "purple Fruity syrupy kushy taste where as the bubba i had was a kushy incense heavy coffe like with slight citrus or sprite something else to it

Having never tried either cut, I can't really comment, although I'll always remember LLP saying LVPK was his favourite smoke of all time.

Either way, I'm very glad both cuts are held in safe hands on these shores.

Question is VG, which one do you prefer to smoke?

bubba aint too shabby. nice flavor/smell/looks. good plant to cross. makes good hash but flowers are a little light.

garbageville pk is about as good as it sounds. never saw the shine in her. but everyones different.

Oh, and as far as I understand the Garberville and Las Vegas cuts are different.

Garberville Purple Kush is what Swerve uses to breed with and is meant to taste more like OG, whereas LVPK originates from Kyle Kushman and is said to maybe be a Bubba s1, hence the similarities.

KK Stated his Purple Kush Lineage was a Purple Hindu Kush x (Northern lights/Hashplant)
KKs Purple Kush is not the same as the Las Vegas which is probably an S1 of Bubba Kush

The plant that GP posted looks Identical in leaf morphology and bud structure to what is known as the BC Garberville Purple Kush.

Here's a quote I dug up from KK where he is talking about the creation of his PK Strain

KK:
"It was a strong purple Hindu Kush, which I crossed with a potent Dutch
strain of Northern Lights #5 crossed with Hash Plant.

The result was an extremely narcotic high and a plant that was full
of deep purple. Very visually impressive! I grew it for 8 years with
only selective breeding. Produced fresh seed whenever necessary, or
whenever the superior plant showed itself and cried to be pollinated.
Around my fourth or fifth generation, I began to experience
hermaphrodites. (These are plants that contain chromosomes for both
male and female.) These will not produce anything except more
hermaphrodites! The first couple of crops that showed these tendencies
were also later in the flowering cycle, and were sporadic. I would
simply pluck the male flowers before they could release any pollen.
Then it began getting worse, coming earlier in the flowering cycle,
and with more frequency. This was the beginning of the end! I spent
hours with each harvest for several years constantly inspecting every
plant from top to bottom to keep from producing an unwanted seed
harvest!

I had to retire the strain, and you might consider doing the same."

Thanks for the info SP, I always thought KK had the LVPK.

It would make sense that he used a NL x Hashplant as the structure of PK has always reminded me of NL#5 x HP.
