8 week veg

anyone ever heard of doing a 16 week cycle indoors under 400 w hps? 8 weeks of veg 8 of flower.
I had a guy tell me that is what he does.
I cant understand how you wouldn't have plants way too big if you are not using a PGR?

Sounds like he's growing slow vegging indicas . & yeah , whats a PGR ??

im guessing with constant training, it can be possible, and still keeping them short and with an organised structure.
Im still learning how its done, but theres some amazing threads on here, which help teach how to do it well.

What im thinking about is, could i wait 8 weeks to veg, then 8 weeks to flower? I mean, im sure it would have an effect on the amount of crops per year. If the yield was more than double that of a 4week veg, then id consider it.

I suppose as long as the veg time and strain make it worthwhile, then everything is possible with the plant we love.

A good stout indica will need 6 to 8 weeks of veg to get big enough for a decent 1/4lb or better yeild .& its about the only strain that'll finish in 8 weeks properly . sativas & hybrids will go anywhere from 9 to 16 weeks or more depending on the strain .

Sounds like it's alreaady too late, but ya, he should stop giving them PGR's. imho...Trying to do both, is like swatting mosquitoes with a sledgehammer, it's overkill. There is a reason they're called plant growth regulators.

Time/schedules are a human invention plants don't follow these man made rules. When they are ready, they are ready.

Depends on hydro or soil. Has to be soil can't be hydro 8 week veg that's crazy. Yield wise 1/4lb? Wouldn't the amount of light be a factor as well

op i ended up vegging for 2 months and regret it, it wasnt by choice but more of slackin on getting my room ready (had temp issues) but i even topped them and had a ton of unnecessary wasted energy and ended up pruning most of my bottom branches to focus on top buds that actually got light i am growing chemdog from ghs

its just a generalization dude .... of course other variables come into play .

I veg 8 weeks what's so unusual? If he has 1 small clone to fill a closet then that 8 week veg sounds perfectly reasonable. Especially with a screen.

Typically you'd flip them when they're between 12-18 inches tall. Shorter cycles with smaller plants will get you a few more harvests each year so in the end you'll have more bud this way. If you had situation where keeping plant count down is an issue (medical, or trying to stay under the felony mark), then vegging longer would be the way to go

If I understand Meddle correctly, his buddy is doing an 8 week veg (I agree, no problem with that), but he is also using PGR'S and now he's worried his plants are getting too big for his grow. Yet, he won't flip until the 8 weeks are up or stop feeding PGR's.

Oh, thanks.

I use a screen.

Heres a very low yielding high quality S1 bagseed from 'first generation' cutting, about 9 weeks veg(7 under a 150W hps, 2 under a 400). Currently at 2 weeks flower.
