hi i have a strange congo
it is different from what I've seen in plants

Welcome satanvers666,

I think you found a very dominant congo 3 expression, maybe not the most friendly indoor or fast flowering pheno but hopefully you have the chance to experience the best congolese effects from the line.

Best wishes!

That is one crazy looking sativa. One of these days I will have to try out Congo. I was afraid it had too much kush in it but if congo can still throw phenos like that it must still be very African.

Beautiful mayan :) Im glad you want to repeat the congo experience!

The are 3 main phenos in the Congo hybrid:

1) The small-medium sized more indica (pck) influenced, fast flowering(9-10 weeks), more robust, better yielding. Perfect for indoor growing and outdoor growing in colder climates.

2) The medium-tall pheno of dark thin sativa leaf, very congolese dominant, very branchy, medium yield, flowering time 10-12 weeks.

3) The outdoor beast congo 3 dominant pheno, extremely vigorous sativa for outdoor growing in warm climate. 12 weeks of flowering.

They all share the same kind of aromas and similar effects. The new stock comes mainly from the first pheno.

Hi Dubi-

Do you get these same 3 pheno frequencies with both fem and regular Congo seeds?

Thanks

Greetings LowFalutin,

The new Congo fem is a more stable offering, slighty more sativa dominant in phenotype with the desired blend of pakistan indica influence in the mix. It has been rebuilt since the original Congo bred and I'm very happy with the results.

I'll second that Dubi, have a fem bean in organic soil (ProMix base) and it's already showing purple leaflets while my Purple Haze x Thai are all dark green! Definitely the PCK showing through...

What are the recommendations for canopy management? Topping/LST/Supercropping? I'm indoors and can do any number of things, wanted to see if there was a tried/tested method that worked well.

Welcome low_and_slow,

The new congo fem doesnt stretch much, overall is very easy to grow, the structure is usually quite manageable indoors, i would only top if you have size restrictions. Best wishes!

Hello Dubi!

I have recently started a Congo grow and would like your opinion on what pheno i have. the seeds were purchased from ssc.

The reason i ask is because the leaves look very indica to me, especially when compared to photos of Congo in this thread. just want to know if this is normal and when, if at all can i expect the shape to change? i dont mind if it looks like an indica as long as the sativa effect will be there and dominant.

here are a few pics of my plants. (all are from regular, not feminized seeds)

Thanks!

A lot of sativa/indica hybrids start out with very broad indica like leaves and then later in growth and flower the leaves become more sativa like. Having said this, those are some very kush looking seedlings to me. It will be interesting to see how they change as they grow.

Hey guys thanks for the feedback, i am also suspicious weather they are really congo, as you say they don't look like it.
i am adding a few side shot as well but take note i have been mainlining them so they probably look weird anyway.

I wouldn't be too worried about them being the wrong strain unless you have reason to suspect a shady seed vendor or something such as the seeds not coming in the original Ace packaging or the seeds coming from a seed bank that Ace doesn't sell to.

I'm not sure which thread it was in now, but I think I remember reading somewhere that Congo was recently worked a bit more towards the PCK side of its heritage in this last generation. Given that Congo has always had a good bit of Kush in its heritage I wouldn't be too worried about your young plants looking the way they do. :)

I am about 2 months into growing one of the newer feminized Congo seeds...yes, it does look like an Indian Indica until it stretches. After that, mine has turned completely thin-leaf/long internode Sativa...no mistaking it at this point, but where you're at she looked very similar initially.
