Emerald Triangle Quandary?!?

So my partner and i recently got a rent to own agreement in trinity county. We are going indy, GH and OD. not blowing it up too big; a few scripts with maybe a few extra plants for good measure, keeping it under 99. i would say 80 percent of the neighbors are growers, anywhere from a few plants up to 100 or so in a few spots within a couple miles. We are already well underway with in's and gh and are planning what to do for outdoor and we just found out this week that our property was raided last year by joint team of state and fed leo, from what i understand it wasn't a plant count thing as much as it was a snitch thing. no one else in the area even got a knock on the door, not even bigger gardens. just a few properties around norcal associated with same said snitching got popped. this mildly freaks me out. my partner and i are now talking about doing everything inside or greenies. or maybe really low plant count outside full term as opposed to 48 or so that had been planned. What would you do? Should i consult with an attorney? should we be weary of potentially getting caught in the wrong place at the wrong time?

The owner got busted or his former rent-to-owners? I'd be a little freaked if it was the guy carrying the note and no knowing the outcome of the case etc. Do you know if the tittle to the property is otherwise clean? Anyhow, if it still appears that the former owner is blowing it up then yeah I'd be a little worried too, the helicopters won't be flying till the summer time so you have time to figure out what you got yourselves into. I'd find out as much as I can about the title. I know in Humboldt your property can be listed as a nuisance after a bust and it can make it difficult to sell, a buddy had this happen to him, I'm sure there are loopholes around it, but overall doesn't make for an easy transaction.

It was likely some local politics turning nasty. Don't piss off the locals and you'll be ok.

Mr shiva: The owners got busted. They weren't renting it out before and they arent really landlords. This is just a rental for a brief period, We intend on taking over the note from the investors shortly. I think current owner is going to some light dep greenies this year in Humboldt and just finish early and be done before the raids start. Do you know how I can check the status of the title? All the paperwork I have seen so far had no mention of the bust on it. Just heard through the grapevine on the mountain.

Jointed: yeah that's what I was thinking. A lot of people do it way greedy huge here. This news just got me a little worried.

Big shrimp: it may have been, from what i gather from very little super vague info is that a courier for a half dozen or so farms got popped and turned snitch. nope not the pines. That place scares me.

A tittle search will tell you what you got. With any luck trinity doesn't do what they do in Humboldt which wouldn't surprise me at all with no incorporated towns etc, less bs I'm sure.

Norcal, you should be able to do a title search through an escrow company or the county. County records are public.

I would only do your plant limit for trinity county.

Trinity Co.
Trinity County passed an ordinance in June 2012 that limits personal gardens, indoors or outdoors to:
1) For parcels of one acre or less, two marijuana plants or 50 square feet;
2) For parcels between one and 2 acres, four plants or 100 square feet;
3) For parcels between 2 acres and five acres, six plants or 200 square feet;
4) For parcels between five and ten acres, six plants or 300 square feet;
5) For parcels of ten acres or greater, eight plants or 400 square feet

Trinity Planning Commission approved an aggregate grow ordinance on July 12, 2012 that would allow up to 99 plants within 2500 square feet, if properly zoned with a residence on the property, etc.

Attorney Matt Kumin was in court in Trinity County seeking an injunction against the County's restrictions on plant numbers on Nov. 5, 2012. The judge took the matter under submission.



Ask the sheriff what the deal is. If you are really concerned.
