Help..Silly Question ?

My friend has an submersive pump that is no longer in use.

If I put the pump in the water and connect it to air stones in
the water would it create bubbles ?

Or do I actually need an air pump for the air stones ?

Thanks

PS: I'm trying to save $ and not have to buy an air pump if the above works.

If you put it on the pump it will just slow the flow of water from the pump.
Plus it would help if it has a picture or more details of the actual pump to see if it can work both ways; draw in air and circulate with water & oxygen.

There are far too many pumps to answer correctly, most you could pick up for a couple of £
or even £1, second hand.

Thanks for the reply.. I haven't seen it yet so I'm not really sure
what features it has.

I'll post up when it arrives.

Thanks

You can make it spray back through a sprinkler head or two, or on a loop up back and down with a reducer on the down drop and an air bleed line above that to suck air in like AACT brewers are setup..But no it wont push air..

a small airpum from and aquarium will work just fine ,it will cause a faster rate of evaporation ,and will need topped off daily if its a smaller res ,this will aslo cause ph flux when the res level drops as it concentrates the res ,a toilet float will fix this problem hooked to a reverse osmosis filter, good luck

the short answer is no. you can create a waterfall effect with tubing but you would still need to buy the supplies to do so. In that case i would head over to walmart and buy a small air pump. If you are going to grow hydroponically an air pump is a necessity....

Thanks everyone for the replies ..appreciate it.

Well it turns out it's an Eheim pump but the bad news is he plugged it in and it doesn't work.

Oh well so much for that.
