Unreasonable expectations tend to make things worse for oneself.
You seem to think that by ignoring those calling for the legalization automatically makes it where the legislature is ignoring ALL of its constituency.
Last time I heard the polling in favor was close to 60%. Have you seen different numbers? I'm open to being corrected.Right now North Carolina does not have the popular vote for it.
Several major differences between now and 1979. Washington and Colorado are game changers. Another major difference, we have 18 MMJ states now, so we're not reinventing the wheel. We have an excellent bill ready to go, and a reasonable expectation of how it will play out based on results.North Carolina is at the same point right now as Cali was in 1979 for gods sake! Give them some time to sort this out!!!
I haven't had any weed in approximately two months, not that it matters. Let me anticipate that the next thing you're going to say is that I should get some. That childish, oppositional/defiant bullshit is ruining this state. Carry on with it, hope it works out really well for you. I'm peacing the fuck out to go live with grown-ups. And yes, I'm a woman, not that it matters.Really guy, you may want to lighten up on the Tahoe Kush and the Chemdawg. Too much of a good thing and whatnot.
most NC voters have their ass glued to a pew so they vote the way the church "instructs" them to. weed is bad mmmkay
Let the politicians put the vote to the people of nc and see the outcome, it would be an entirely different ballgame.
shit we cant even buy beer before noon on sundays! has nothing to do with gov. it has to do with the church down here. church is BIG business in the south and if a politician turns his back on the church you can bet they wont get elected.
That's what pissed me off so much about being told we were "harassing him." We have close to 60% approval among the public, but he can swat us like a fly.

Not in NC you don't. You can conduct a poll in Asheville,Charlotte and Raleigh to get those numbers but the second you leave the cities it turns to no way in hell. Think of it like this. 40 percent of the population in the major cities does not support and damn near everyone outside the major cities do not support it.
As I remember the Gay rights people were dead sure they were going to get gay marriage passed in NC... Look what happened to them. 61 against 39 for.
The same thing would happen in NC if you voted for weed in the Popular vote.
Why on earth would a Politician who knows this vote for something that could never pass regardless?
Supporters of the measure cited results from a January survey by Public Policy Polling that found 58 percent of North Carolinians support legalizing marijuana for medicinal use.

A poll conducted by Public Policy Polling revealed that most North Carolinians believe that a doctor should possess the legal option to authorize marijuana for patients. Support for legalizing medical marijuana is at 58% overall, with 33% opposed and 9% undecided. A majority of every age group under age 65 supports allowing for the medical use of marijuana. The poll surveyed 608 North Carolina voters between January 10 and January 13, 2013.
